UPDATE FROM THE ELDERS
Several weeks ago, the Elders announced that we were hitting the pause button on the construction of
a new building on the property at Deerfoot Parkway. Below is the original announcement along with
some updates to make sure everyone is as current as possible:
In John 13:35, Jesus says, “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one
another.” The Elders are thankful to each of you for your love for GOD and for your love for one another.
At this time, we wanted to take a few minutes to let you know where we stand on our building plans for the
property on Deerfoot Parkway and our plans as we move forward in 2017. After extensive meetings with
our architects, builders, and engineers at the end of 2016, the Elders have decided to hit the pause button on
breaking ground for our new building on Deerfoot at this time.
A number of factors influenced our decision to delay the construction and we wanted to share some of them
with you.
1. While we did sell our building in Roebuck at fair market value, it did not sell for as much as we had
originally anticipated.
2. The cost of preparing the Deerfoot site to build on will be in excess of $1 million. This was a large
increase over what the original plans called for.
3. We were informed that the square footage cost for the new building had increased by over 35% in the
past four years, making it necessary for us to scale back our plans significantly on the size of the new
building. For the amount of money we can borrow at this time, the new building would be of similar
size to the one in which we are now sitting. And, although, we could add another 100 seats or so to the
new auditorium, there would be no fellowship hall.
4. And lastly, there are some issues and questions we need to work through with some governmental
agencies before we move forward with the new building.
Now, for the good news. We are extremely blessed to be in this nice building on Springville Road where
we are now worshipping. This was not in our original plans either, but GOD has richly blessed us. The
church is debt free and we plan to save the money we were paying on our mortgage toward the right sizing
of our new building when we do begin construction. Since we have hit the pause button on constructing the
new building, we would like to do a few things to the building here at Springville Road that are needful as
we continue to grow.
1.We plan to do some construction to add classroom space.
UPDATE: We have plans for new classrooms and we plan to build these as quickly as possible.
2.We plan to tap on to the sewer system that is available so we can utilize the entire
acreage of this property.
UPDATE: We are working with our plumber to get the building hooked up to the sewer system.
3.We plan to add and pave additional parking spaces.
UPDATE: We have contracted with a paving firm and paving should be completed in the next
few weeks.
4. We plan to build an outdoor pavilion similar to the one at the Trussville Mall, in order
to encourage more fellowship.
UPDATE: We are awaiting the start of other projects so we can spot the best location and begin
construction.
The Elders wanted everyone to be as updated as possible as we move forward in serving the LORD. We
hope this has answered your questions but if there is something you would like to ask that we did not ad-
dress, please see one of the Elders. We also want you to know that while we do not know what the future
holds, we do know that GOD holds the future. May GOD richly bless this good church as we continue to
glorify and honor HIM.
Thank you from the Elders

MISSION SUNDAY and Truth for Today
World Mission School
Truth for Today World Mission School in Searcy,
Arkansas, is a multifaceted non-profit organization dedi-
cated to world evangelism. Directed by Eddie Cloer, a
professor of Bible and preaching courses at Harding Uni-
versity, TFTWMS strives to teach faithfully the Holy Scrip-
tures of our Lord.
Truth for Today World Mission School is the multi-
language printed preacher's school for preachers and
teachers in 145 countries of the world. Their goal is to
help people everywhere find the way to heaven. At the
present time Bible courses are provided with 3,000 les-
sons in English, 1,400 in Spanish, 1,600 in French and
2,000 in Russian, plus thousands more in several other
languages. It is the intent and prayer that the materials on
Bible courses will guide people into a deeper understand-
ing of God's Word, equip them to teach it more effec-
tively, and encourage them in meeting the challenge of
our Lord's Great Commission.
World evangelism will only take place in direct pro-
portion to the number of qualified national preachers who
are scattered throughout the earth. Governments can
keep missionaries out, but it is very difficult to keep
printed materials from entering a country. Those who re-
ceive material from Truth for Today World Mission School
realize that their training in the Word is a gift from God.
When you give to this work, you are giving these men the
tools they need to teach those who have never heard the
gospel.
A monthly publication called “Truth for Today” is
sent to tens of thousands of preachers and Bible teach-
ers. Each issue is the equivalent of a 150-page book. It is
published twelve times a year and is mailed in English to
thousands of preaching brethren in many nations all over
the globe. Translating offices have been established in
Brazil, China, Costa Rica, France, India, Indonesia, Italy,
and Ukraine.
In addition to this they are publishing a series of
commentaries to cover each book of the Bible. Faithful
scholars within the churches of Christ are producing a
complete book-by-book commentary on the entire Bible.
Each volume in this historic work provides remarks on the
verses of the text covered, and chapters end with applica-
tion sections which offer suggestions for developing ser-
mons and Bible classes. At the present time there are 27
books of the Old Testament that are published plus 2 vol-
umes on Biblical Archaeology. Commentaries on fifteen
books of the New Testament have been published.
We have been supporting this work for a number of
years and brother Cloer has come each year to speak at
the Bible school hour and the worship hour giving us a
report on the work they are doing and the work they hope
to do. I do not know of any other work among our breth-
ren that is doing as much in helping to spread the gospel
to every creature as this. This is a work we want to con-
tinue to support through the money raised on Mission
Sunday. To continue to do this we need to continue our
generous giving on May the seventh. Works like this that
are alive and active will always be in need of support and
this work is certainly worthy of our help.
Belize

Guzman will be coming to
