3G – Be Technologized
… What’s that?

 What is Technologized?
 What is 3G?
What is Technologized?
“be technologized” is a matter of ability to grab the
   opportunities delivered by the technology

To be able to grab the opportunities …….
…… we need to know what are the opportunities avail.
To be able to know what are available ….
…… we need to study the TECHNOLOGY
NOW …
What is 3G?
G = Generation; 3G is the third generation of the cellular
 technology development
If there is 3G; there should be 1G and 2G.
1G = the first generation of Cellular telecommunication technology,
still using the analog technology (NMT technology = Mobisel,
    AMPS technology = Komselindo)
2G = the 2nd generation, using digital technology but still focus in
voice (GSM technology = Telkomsel, Indosat, XL)
3G = the 3rd generation using digital technology and already focus
on data and voice (WCDMA = CAC?, LippoTelcom? And CDMA
    20001X EVDO = mobile8, TelkomFlexi?, Star1?)
What about GPRS and EDGE?
 Transition Technology >>> 2.5G, 2,75G
Some people categorize GPRS and CDMA2000 1X
 as 2.5G
Some people categorize EDGE and CDMA2000 1X
 EVDO as 2.75G
Some people categorize CDMA2000 1X EVDO as
3G, in fact it is 3G in JAPAN
Today’s Situation
Nobody understand clearly what is 3G technology
 Customer is confused
 Incumbent Cellular Operator is waiting
 New Comers is scared
 Vendor is un-patience
Government is still in learning mode
                 Let’s see 3G in more detail …
Let’s see 3G in more detail …

                       CELLULAR OPERATOR (below 3G)
What should be done to get 3G
available properly?
Cellular Operator needs to change their business model by
separating the NETWORK provider and SERVICE provider
Service should be broke down into VOICE&SMS services and
CONTENT services
CONTENT service provider should learn The TECHNOLOGY
(the vehicle) and the NEEDS (the services)
The NETWORK provider and VENDOR handset need to work
together to support the CONTENT service provider delivering
the services
The NETWORK PROVIDER and CONTENT PROVIDER need
to create smooth ENVIRONMENT (the business system)
What you can do to get 3G available
properly?
Learn the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME), or BREW, or any
other programming language for mobile application

Learn the NEEDS; the needs for youngsters, businessmen, or etc.

Create business plan for a CONTENT provider to serve the NEEDS

Seeks support from the operators to start the business

                      … Operators need YOU!!!
