I had a wonderful opportunity to give a virtual oral presentation at Informatics in Biology, Medicine, and Pharmacology conference, 2020. I talked about joint analysis of multiple traits in genetic disease studies using DeGAs and multi-PRS as example projects. B6476: Why we need a computer to study biology?
DNA carries genetic information of living organisms. Traditionally, there has been experimental efforts to understand the laws of genetics, but the landscape of the field had dramatically changed since the beginning of the century: there has been an increasing effort to use computers to study biomedical sciences using information on our genome (DNA). In this lecture, I will focus on human genome project, an international research project that motivated the field to use computational approaches to study biology. I will also talk about frontiers of computational research in biomedicine.
