2011 Defiance College Ohio Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA Impact Presentation
Nicholas Weber established the Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) program in Defiance, Ohio to help low-income families access tax preparation and public assistance programs. The program operates through a service-learning model with Defiance College students. It has grown significantly since 2009, serving over 700 clients in 2011 and generating over $1 million in resources. The program utilizes various community sites and marketing strategies. Its success is due to addressing high community needs while avoiding restrictions of other free tax preparation programs. The program aims to continue strong partnerships and sustainable growth while carefully managing resources.
