Gabriola Island is a small island off the coast of Vancouver with no public transportation except one taxi. 2. Gabriola Island is a small Island in the southwest of Vancouver and the east of Vancouver Island. There is no public transport (except 1 taxi), so that you either have to walk or hitchhike. Chrissi and I stayed on a camping place for three nights, which is near the sea. We walked a lot, visited a friend of mine who builds boats (nice wooden sailing and rowing boats!) and spent some time at the beach. It's a very nice Island to relax and read.
