4. First Hole
This is the view from the first tee box.
The fairway slopes from right to left so
you want to aim half way between the
150 yard stake and the trees on the
right. Anything left of the stake will
funnel towards the traps on the left
and behind some trees.
Be careful not to go right of the right
hand trees as that is the driving range
and is out of bounds. Donāt go in there
after your ball without a hard hat.
The down hill gets steeper just past
the traps.
Donāt tee off until the previous group
is on the green as you cannot see
people or carts in the swale between
the crest of the hill and the green.
5. First Hole
Assuming a right center drive to the
crest of the hill or beyond, this is the
view for your approach shot.
Unless the course is wet or you have
exceptional ball control, you might
want to land on the false front and let
it release to the pin.
Beware of a back left pin placement as
it is a āsucker pinā. Back left of the
green is firm and there is a steep drop
off behind the green. Donāt go long!
Bunkers guard the green both left and
right.
Putts tend to break back towards the
tee box
7. Second Hole
This is the view from the 2nd tee box.
This hole is also slightly down hill past
the big fir tree you see on the left side.
Unlike the first hole, this hole slopes
left to right. Your aim point should be
half way between that single tree and
the 150 yard stake. Yes there is a trap
on the right just past the stake.
It is a tree lined fairway so keeping
your tee shot left of center but right of
the tree is important.
8. Second Hole
Second Shot
If you are 200 yards off the tee
between the tree & the stake, this is
your view of the 2nd green. About 165
yards to the green.
The tree on the right just in front of
the trap is 20 yards short of the green.
The fairway is down hill from here with
the green canted back towards you.
There is a bunker parallel to the green
on the left hand side with a pond to
the left hand side.
There is wilderness behind the green
with a very steep drop off so the smart
miss is short of the traps left .
9. Third Hole
Straight and tree lined slightly up hill 325 yard par 4 with a pond in front
of the green
10. Third Hole
As you can see, the view from the tee
box is a tree lined chute.
The fairway slopes slightly from right
to left, so take dead aim on the 150
yard stake as 200 to 250 yards off the
tee it opens out a little on the left.
Donāt miss short and left as there is a
precipitous drop into unkempt
wilderness.
There is a pond in front of the green so
if you are a big hitter with your driver,
lay up with something else off the tee.
The premium is on accuracy on this
hole.
11. Third Hole
Second shot
See the bull rushes? The green is
behind those and is wider than it is
deep. You can just see some of the
right side of the green and the edge of
the trap behind the green. This is the
view from about 125 yards out.
If you are water phobic there is some
space left of the pond between the
green and the nearest fir tree where
you can bail out.
If you have the carry, the right 1/3 of
the green feeds to the left.
There are two traps behind the green
and manageable rough so long is
another safe bail out option.
12. Third Hole
This is your view of the green if your tee shot is long and left or you have
bailed out left on your second shot.
13. Fourth Hole
173 yard par 3 with trouble right and trouble long. Nothing but
wilderness if you miss to either of those spots. It plays from an elevated
tee to a green that slopes back towards the front.
14. Fourth Hole
Tee Shot
The prevailing wind is almost always in
your face. The wind tends to offset the
down hill so that the hole plays to the
actual yardage.
Do NOT miss long or left of the left
hand trap as the terrain drops off
steeply into unkempt wilderness.
There is terrain trouble and trees to
the right as well, so play for the front
middle portion of the green.
The green slopes back to the front
right so your best miss is short and
left.
Wind and sun make this green very
fast.
15. Fourth Green
Note the elevation change on the green. Putts will be fast and curvey
depending on where you land. The bracketing sand traps can save you
from the wilderness.
16. Fifth Hole
Here comes your first par 5 of the day. 476 yards with trees and
wilderness all the way up the left and trees all along the right. There is
also a wilderness drop off in front of the green.
17. Fifth Hole
Another tee box that is a chute
through the trees from the tee box.
It seems like a reachable par 5 for the
big hitters but the yardage is a bit
deceiving as the hole plays longer due
to being slightly up hill.
The gully in front of the green is wide
and inviting so lay up to a comfortable
yardage.
The fairway widens to the left about
150 yards off the tee with bunkers and
a waste area guarding against going
down the side of the hill into unkempt
wilderness.
The fairway also slopes left slightly.
Aim for the middle of the fairway.
18. Fifth Hole
Second Shot
This is the view from about 250 yards
away from the green in the middle of
the fairway.
See the distinctive little tree that looks
like it is in the middle of the fairway up
near the green? That tree is about 10
yards to the right of the wide, deep,
wilderness gully.
The safest strategy is to lay up short
and right of that tree between it and
the trees on the right. That leaves you
a gully free approach over that tree to
the tricky multi tiered green.
The green feeds back towards the gully
and is usually very firm. Anything left
or short is gone forever.
19. Fifth Hole
Second Shot or Third Shot
Here is a better view of the green from
further up the fairway in case you are
a long driver or a short hitter who is
here in two.
Everything left of that tree is gully until
you get to the green
Donāt miss left, short or long as it will
feed into the gully. Missing long is no
bargain either as the ground rises
behind the green which slopes back
towards the gully. If you are going to
miss the green try to do it on the right
side where there is plenty of room.
The gully makes this shot look shorter
than it actually is so engage the gully
at your own peril.
20. Fifth Hole
Third Shot
On a good day, this is where my lay up
winds up. Short right of the tree but
left of the right hand trees.
It affords a clear view of the green
without having to deal with the deep
ravine left of the tree.
A 60 degree wedge will let you hold
this green. Putts here are wicked fast
and curvey.
Beware of back left pin placements as
anything long from this angle goes
down the hill behind and left of the
green.
Shorter hitters will be playing their 4th
shots from here.
21. Sixth Hole
This 393 yard par 4 plays much longer than the yardage due to the fact
that it is all up hill and there is an elevated undulating multi tier green at
the end of it. It is the #1 handicap hole for a reason.
22. Sixth Hole
View from the tee box
It is all up hill from here!
You managed to survive # 5 and now
you get to take on the toughest hole
on the course!
There are trees and a drop off to the
7th fairway on the right and a ditch and
out of bounds houses on your left.
Aim for the left center of the fairway,
especially if you slice (right handed)
Missing the fairway right can get ugly
fast as there are trees all the way up
the right side.
23. Sixth Hole
Second Shot
If you are 200 yards off the tee
between the left hand tree and the
150 yard stake, this is the view you will
get. You still have 200 uphill yards to
go.
Take one club more than you think it
plays due to the elevated green and
the up hill shot.
Missing long is a better option than
short right where a deep trap lurks.
There is a manageable sand trap or
rough behind the green.
The undulating green has some severe
breaks in it so read your putts carefully
for both speed and break. Long putts
from the back tend to run right off the
front.
24. Sixth Green
The view from short and right of the green about 50 yards out. Take note
of the raised surface and the deep bunker.
25. Seventh Hole
This hole is similar to hole # 1 in that it is straight and mostly down hill. It
is a little longer par 4 at 418 yards
26. Seventh Hole
Tee Shot
Now that you have trudged up the
steepest up hill hole on the course,
you get to go right back down the
other way.
There are trees all the way down the
right hand side and a drop off to the
9th fairway left of the cart path.
Avoid the large tree lurking on the
right hand side about 200 yards off the
tee.
If you hit a power fade (RH) you can
aim between the 150 yard stake and
the tall tree on the left that starts the
line of trees from there down to the
hole.
27. Seventh Hole
Second Shot
This is the view from the left side of
the fairway about 175 yards from the
green.
The green has sand traps on every side
and a severe drop off to the 5th hole
behind the green. Donāt go long.
The green looks like it slopes back to
front severely but it is an optical
illusion. Over aggressive shots will run
through the green.
Remember that it is down hill so you
need one less club than the distance
might suggest. Play for the false front
and let it release onto the green.
Your best miss is short left or center.
28. Seventh Green
This is the view from the cart path
about 50 yards short and left of the
green.
Beware of the back pin as it is a sucker
pin that leads to overshooting the firm
fast green.
Putts on this green are actually much
straighter than they look. Visually it
seems to slope from back to front with
a lot of break from everywhere but
that is not the case. It is an illusion.
The green is almost totally level. It is
the slope leading down to the green
that makes it seem uneven.
29. Eighth Hole
The signature hole and for good reason. It is tree lined down the left with
a large pond to the right. It is also down hill from an elevated tee with a
green that slopes back towards the tee box. 216 tough yards.
30. Eight Hole
Signature Hole
This is a challenging 216 yard par 3 .
The view from the tee box is breath
taking but daunting.
Beware of that tallest tree on the left
near the front of the green as it has
been known to reach out and snag
seemingly perfect power fade tee
shots out of the air.
The green does slope severely back
towards the tee box so you can hit it
and hold it with a long iron or wood
(Driver for some of us).
There is a sand trap between the
green and the pond on the right that
might save your bacon. A ditch leads
to the pond down the whole right side.
31. Eigth Green
If that tall fir on the left grabs your tee
shot you wind up with this view of the
green.
This area is above the green and
makes for a tricky pitch.
Your best miss is either short or long in
the middle depending on pin
placement.. Any of the 3 traps are also
a viable option.
Putts break towards the front of the
green and/or the pond. Wind and sun
keep this green firm and fast but uphill
putts from the front of the green to a
rear pin usually come up well short.
32. Ninth Hole
A 459 yard dog leg right up hill par 5.
33. Ninth Hole
Tee Shot
All of you slice drivers will love this
hole. Just aim it straight at that last tall
tree on the left and allow it to curve
into the center of the fairway beyond
the dog leg.
Straight hitters can go ahead and aim
at that shrub by the red maple. Unless
you hit over 250 off the tee you will
not run out of fairway and left gives a
better angle to the green than
anything on the right side.
There is a sand trap on the corner and
trees to snag those who want to cut
the corner. Double bogeys live there.
Over cook it and you are out of bounds
in the practice range.
34. Ninth Hole
Second Shot
After your tee shot it is all up the hill
from here. It plays long!
If you cannot reach the green in two
shots, the best layup is to the middle
or right side of the fairway to avoid the
large trees in the front left of the
green.
35. Ninth Green
Long drivers may get this view from
the center of the fairway.
For shorter hitters this may be their 3rd
shot.
Accuracy is important. You want to
avoid those tall trees on the left
without ending up in one of the 3
deep bunkers along the right side of
the green.
Another trap behind the green
towards the left side can keep you in
bounds if you go long.
36. The club house as seen from the 1st tee box.
When you leave the 9th green you will skirt the parking lot and come
doen past the 1st tee to get to the 10th tee. For snacks call the number on
the fence at the 9th tee box.
37. Tenth Hole
Running parallel to the 1st hole it is also down hill but it is a dog leg right
and only a 328 yard par 4.
38. Tenth Hole
Tee Shot
Long drivers can drive this slight dog
leg but beware of the trees on the
right that can block you off from the
green.
The smart shot is to hit the left center
of the fairway to give yourself a good
angle into the green.
Avoid those tall trees that you see on
the left or you will find yourself on the
lower 12th hole totally blocked by
trees.
The right side slopes steeply up
towards # 1.
The ideal shot is right into the outside
edge of the dog leg in the fairway.
39. Tenth Hole
Second Shot (from 150
yards out)
If you lay up to the 150 stake you will
get this angle to the green.
You can see the lone taller pine that
causes grief for those who try to cut
the corner.
The green is slightly raised and has
many undulations that make for tricky
putts.
There are traps on 3 sides and a drop
off behind the green that goes down
to the second hole.
If you are going to miss, the best miss
is just in front of the green or even into
the left hand sand trap.
40. Tenth Hole
Second Shot (From 100
yards out)
This is the position that I shoot for. Just
at the left edge of the fairway right on
the bend.
Choose your wedge carefully. Donāt go
long.
This is a very tricky green with many
tough pin placements.
Beware of the back left pin placement
Many players wind up chipping or
putting the ball right off the green
again.
41. Eleventh Hole
An uphill 190 yard par 3 lined by trees on both sides.
42. Eleventh Hole
Another solid par 3 that almost always
plays directly into the wind.
Straight matters a lot. Donāt miss long
or left.
The tall tree in the center of the
picture is directly behind the left side
of the green and makes a good aim
point for your tee shot.
Miss too far right and you will find
yourself down on the 2nd fairway
blocked by trees.
There is a safe bail out just past the
last of the line of trees on your left just
short of the green.
43. Twelfth Hole
404 yard par 4 dog leg right that is slightly up hill to the green which is
the most diabolical on the entire course.
44. Twelfth Hole
Second Shot
You can hit straight off the tee aiming
left of the 150 yard stake to end up in
this position. You have room to drive
up to 250 yards before you run out of
fairway at the dog leg.
Long drivers with a power fade can get
it around the corner but donāt come
up short or you will be totally blocked
by the trees on the right.
There is a pond behind those trees on
the right which is another good reason
to aim at the left center of the fairway.
45. Twelfth Green
It doesnāt look like much from here but
once you are up there you find 4
different levels of green with two bowl
shaped collection areas seperated by a
spine through the green.
Whatever you do, donāt go long on the
approach or you will find yourself
pitching out of the trees on the 18th
back to a lower green that runs away
from you.
Members of the club have been known
to 4 putt this green! It is diabolical.
Many good rounds have been scuttled
by double or triple bogey on this hole!
You can put your 2nd shot right in the
center of the green and still walk off
with bogey.
46. Thirteenth Hole
This is a 405 yard par 4 that is ranked as 3rd easiest on the course.
47. Thirteenth Hole
A straight forward par 4 with trees
down the left side as well as the right.
This hole is slightly down the hill
towards the end while the 12th tee box
is on higher ground to your right.
Aim for the 150 yard stake and let it
rip!
48. Thirteenth Hole
Second Shot
This is the approach shot from the left
center of the fairway about 175 yards
out.
There is a pond right of the green and
a deep ravine behind the green so
your best miss is short left of the right
hand sand trap.
Most of our greens break towards
Mission but this one doesnāt break
nearly as much as it seems.
If the pin is in the front 3rd of the green
most of your putts will be straight..
50. Fourteenth Hole
Another very pretty but also a very
daunting hole.
It is all carry over a very deep
wilderness ravine where golf balls go
to die.
There is out of bounds on the right and
wilderness on the left so the only safe
miss is long. Take one extra club off the
tee.
Four sand traps surround the green
and they are preferable to the ravine
but still no bargain.
Prevailing winds will tend to push
shots to your left when they get above
the tree tops.
52. Fifteenth Hole
Tee Shot
Donāt go left as it is well treed down
the left and it drops off to the lower
13th fairway.
It plays longer than the yardage says
because the second half of the hole is
up the hill slightly.
Aim your tee shot at the 150 yard
stake and let it rip. Power fade drivers
should aim half way between the
marker and the trees on the left
The 16th comes back along the right
side on higher ground so tee shots to
the right side of the fairway will funnel
back towards the middle.
53. Fifteenth Hole
Second Shot
The view from about 165 yards short
of the green.
It is longer than it looks so take an
extra club.
There are traps both left and right but
your best miss is just short of the right
hand trap or else in it.
54. Fifteenth Green
The green as seen from 50 yards short
and right.
This green is one of the 3 hardest on
the course. It runs away sharply from
the middle to the left front. A putt
across the green at a middle pin will
run 30 feet away if you miss it left.
Make sure your leaves are on the high
side.
55. Sixteenth Hole
This is a rolling downhill 389 yard par 4 that places a premium on
accuracy.
56. Sixteenth Hole
Tee Shot
This is a rolling fairway with a lot of
ups and downs.
The 18th runs parallel on the left on
higher ground so if you fade aim for
the left center of the fairway as your
tee shots will tend to wander to the
right as they roll out because the 15th
runs parallel on the right on lower
ground.
Try to keep it on the plateau because if
you run out to far you have a very
tricky down hill lie towards a green
that is protected by a deep wilderness
gully to the right as well as behind the
green.
57. Sixteenth Hole
Second Shot
The approach to the green from about
170 yards out in the left side of the
fairway.
Trees on the left guard this approach
and there is a deep gully on the right
as well as behind the green on the left.
Flirt with the trees on the left and if
you are going to miss do so short and
left.
58. Sixteenth Green
As seen from about 50 yards short and
left of the green. As you can see you
get a lot of green to work with from
this angle.
Beware of the ravine on the right. The
green seems to fall away in all
directions, not just towards the ravine.
59. Seventeenth Hole
The shortest and allegedly easiest hole on the course. It is a mere 131
yards from the blue tees.
60. Seventeenth Hole
17 is very similar to 14 except shorter.
Once again it is all carry over a very
deep ravine It is surrounded by 5 sand
traps. Take an extra club and miss long.
Out of bounds is on the right and a 40
foot drop off is on the left beyond the
ravine. At least it is mowed over there.
The green is slightly higher than the
tee box and once again it is all carry
with no margin for error short.
The front left bunker is very deep. The
right hand bunkers play to a green that
slopes back towards the tee box when
played from the side. Putts are
slippery.
61. Seventeenth Green
The 17th green as seen looking back
towards the tee box. There is lots of
room behind the green as that is
where the 18th tee box is. Trust me,
there are far worse places to be,
especially with a rear pin placement.
Everything past the pin in this picture
will run all the way down to the front
edge of the green so chip carefully if
you miss the green.
The slope of the green and pin
placements can wreak havoc. Try to
finish short of the pin on back
placements.
62. Eighteenth Hole
Finally! A par 5 finishing hole that plays 521 yards from the blue tees. It
plays longer than the yardage.
63. Eighteenth Hole
Tee Shot
There are only 4 or 5 flat spots on the
entire hole.
There is out of bounds down the entire
right side along the road.
The fairway falls away towards the 16th
fairway below on the left which is
heavily guarded by trees.
There is a deep ravine in front of the
tee box. The ladies and seniors tees
are on the other side of the ravine at
404 yards.
The roadway on the right is also
protected by trees to avoid shattered
windshields. Aim for the right center of
the fairway as it will roll out left.
64. Eighteenth Hole
Ladies and Seniors Tee
or second shot
The par five 18th looks less daunting
from up here. Tee shots from the blue
tees wind up near where the power
cart is in this picture.
65. Eighteenth Hole
Third Shot
As seen from the far right side of the
fairway which is not a bad place to be.
The green is elevated so take an extra
club. This is a multi tier green that runs
left as well as back towards the
fairway.
It is paramount to finish below the
hole as anything above the pin runs
the risk of running all the way back off
of the green.
The green is fast with severe breaks
built in so putt carefully.
66. Nineteenth Hole
The view from the restaurant balcony looking back over the 18th green
and fairway.
