112295 Port Extortion While Crossing the Libyan/Egyptian Border Original Drawing by Rufran C. Frago Ordinary White Bond Paper, 14" x 16", Pencil No. 1, 2, & 3 The trip to Alexandria from Beda Oil Field took me and my other expat companions three days using a rented transport. It was a dangerous drive during the last leg of our travel. It was night and I did not get a wink of sleep. My eyes were glued on our sleepy Libyan driver whose two feet were on the vehicles dashboard with the vehicle traveling on cruise. Finally, we have to cross the last border crossing dividing Libya and Egypt. I could not remember the place, but this is where my last three hundred dollars including my passport was taken from me by what appeared to be our port guard escort. My other companions have the same experience. Our passports were withheld from us until the last moment. It was very stressful. I got mine barely fifteen minutes before the plane door closed. The pencil drawing was done on that plane on the way home. Rufran (011815)
