EPA's Request to Yank the Windfall Oil and Gas Injection Well Permit in PAMarcellus Drilling News
The "Motion for Voluntary Remand" from the federal EPA. This is a request to withdraw a "final" permit issued by the EPA to Windfall Oil and Gas that allows them to drill a 7,300 feet deep Class II saltwater injection well near Dubois (Clearfield County), PA. After encountering resistance from anti-drillers, the EPA took the "unusual step" of yanking the permit back for further consideration. Don't hold your breath on when a decision will be made.
A very false and misleading "update" to a "report" issued by the nefarious, very partisan and very anti-drilling Public Accountability Initiative titled "Anatomy of an Industry Front Group." The "update" to an older hit piece titled Big Green Fracking Machine continues to make the false claim that the Center for Sustainable Shale Development (CSSD), located in Pittsburgh, PA, is somehow a front group for the drilling industry. The PAI "report" attempts to shame environmental groups from dropping their support for the CSSD. It's apparently working. Three such participants have dropped out over the past year or so.
A plan presented by David Peebles at the Department of Energy Quadrennial Energy Review Public Meeting held at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh on July 21st. The presentation shows how the proposed $2B+ ethane cracker plant in Parkersburg, WV is just the beginning of "clusters" of downstream manufacturing facilities that will be built. The cracker plant will act as a magnet for other businesses.

A new study (one of two) from the US Geological Service that evaluates nearly 1 million fracked oil and gas wells from 1947-2010. The study looks at how fracking technology has changed and evolved, making it safer and more productive.

Letter to PA Gov. Wolf from Anti-Fossil Fuel Organizations Asking Him to Stop...Marcellus Drilling News
A letter from THE Delaware Riverkeeper, Maya van Rossum, and a bunch of her anti-fossil fuel (wacko) pals to America's most liberal governor, PA Gov. Tom Wolf, asking him to immediately suspend all further Marcellus drilling in the state and while he's at it, stop building any new pipelines.
An All-of-the-Above Energy Strategy as a Path to Sustainable Economic GrowthMarcellus Drilling News
A bull crap 42-page report from the Obama White House on his brilliant plans to limit carbon. Oh, and a small bone that "yeah, fracking is OK, for now" thrown in. More erroneous stupidity based on global warming hoaxary. But that's what we come to expect from radicals and the rules they want to enforce on us all.
Consent Order from PA DEP Signed by Halliburton Admitting Guilt over HCl Stor...Marcellus Drilling News
A Consent Assessment of Civil Penalty signed by Halliburton (issued by the Pennsylvania Dept of Environmental Protection) in which Halliburton admits to guilt over hauling, storing and treating over the legal limit of hydrochloric acid (HCl) at a facility in Homer City, PA. This activity went on from 1999 to 2011. Halliburton was given a pass because they claimed the quantities of HCl they handled at the facility was small enough to exempt them from PA's Solid Waste Management Act of 1980. The DEP eventually investigated and discovered the violation and fined Halliburon $1.8 million--one of the largest fines in PA DEP history.
The monthly report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration showing production of oil and gas broken out by the 7 major commercially active shale plays in the U.S.
Results for a poll conducted in April & May 2014 of PA and NY residents on their attitudes and knowledge of fracking and Marcellus Shale drilling. The poll found about 2/3 of residents in each state know little or nothing about fracking, yet also purports to say that the majority of NYers hold a negative view of fracking. To which we ask: if the majority know nothing about fracking, how can they hold a negative view of it? The poll doesn't explain that.
Data compiled by the American Petroleum Institute that shows America's carbon footprint is shrinking--due to a conversion in using more natural gas. The free market works far better than any government edict to lessen our carbon footprint.
A new report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The EIA coins a new phrase: Hydrocarbon Gas Liquids (HGL) which is the combination of what we normally call natural gas liquids (NGLs, like ethane and propane) and olefins--or petrochemicals like ethylene, propylene, butylene, and isobutylene. The report does an excellent overview of the industry and its connection to shale plays in the U.S.
Letter sent by Alliance for American Manufacturing to Dept. of Commerce re St...Marcellus Drilling News
A letter composed and sent by the AAM, and signed by 150 members of Congress, urging Commerce to conduct a speedy and full investigation into the dumping of steel pipes into the American market by South Korea and other countries. Dumping refers to selling products below the cost to manufacture them. It leads to plant closures in the U.S. and loss of jobs.
FEMA Policy Barring FEMA Money to Buy Out Flooded Properties with Shale LeasesMarcellus Drilling News
A policy enacted "overnight" with no public comment by the Federal Emergency Management Agency that states FEMA will not issue flood insurance nor will they purchase any flooded or properties damaged from storms that have an existing lease for shale drilling. FEMA is discriminating against landowners with leases--materially harming U.S. citizens that need and deserve FEMA assistance.
West Virginia House of Delegates Bill (HB) 4558 which would allow "unitization" or more commonly called forced pooling of land for the purposes of oil and gas drilling. This bill and variations of it have been introduced for several years running in the WV 60-day legislative session. So far none of them have passed.
Research: A new process to remove salt and organic compounds from frack waste...Marcellus Drilling News
A new process was developed by researchers at University of Colorado Boulder to treat frack wastewater using a "simpler" yet effective method. The research explaining the process is published as the cover story in the journal Environmental Science Water Research & Technology, January 2015 issue.
