BRADLEY BEACH — The Bradley Beach Po-
licemen’s Benevolent Association [PBA]
Local No. 50 has filed a lawsuit against the
Borough of Bradley Beach and Police
Chief Leonard Guida, claiming a depart-
mental policy violates PBA members’ con-
stitutional rights.
The lawsuit was filed in United States
District Court, Newark Division, by PBA
attorney Marcia J. Mitolo, of the firm Lim-
sky Mitolo in Hackensack.
According to the lawsuit, a policy enact-
ed by Chief Guida in January 2014 allowed
him to search police officers’ cell phone
records for times when they were actively
on duty, which the lawsuit claims is a vio-
lation of the PBA members’ fourth-am-
mendment rights against “unreasonable
searches and seizures.”
The policy, as described in the lawsuit,
discouraged officers from using personal
cell phones while on duty, unless they had
requested permission from Chief Guida to
do so. According to the lawsuit, short,

BELMAR — After years of
preparation, collection, a ma-

hurricane and subsequent re-
covery, the Belmar Historical
Society Museum finally
opened its doors to the public
over the weekend.
Visitors poured into the
annex of the Union Firehouse
at 9th Avenue and E Street on
Saturday, April 11, to tour the
exhibits, journey through
time and view the hard work
and dedication of the Belmar
Historical Society [BHS].
According to Pat O’Keefe,
museum secretary, the build-
ing is 103 years old and was
constructed for multi-pur-
pose use when Belmar “first
became a town.”
“What the building incor-
porated was the firehouse it-
self, which is still a working
firehouse, and also the coun-
cil meeting room/court room
and, eventually … the police
station,” Ms. O’Keefe said.
“It’s a fairly small place but
we set it up … to give tours to
elementary school children,
for people to do genealogy
