Montijo is a town located in Extremadura, Spain between Badajoz and Mérida near the Guadiana river. It has a population of 16,236 inhabitants and covers three municipalities: Lácara, Barbaño, and Montijo, with Montijo serving as the capital. Some of the main sights of Montijo include the Church of Our Lady of Remedies built in 1494 in the Gothic style, the Clarisas Convent built in 1703 over an old chapel, and the Torre Águila tower from the 1st century BC.
