nstrument reprocessing in less
than 30 minutes which also meets
the national standard for infec-
tion control (AS 4815: 2006), is
possible with the latest infection control
solution from W&H.
The system comprises the newly
released W&H Assistina 3x3 automated
handpiece maintenance unit (released
in Australia at ADX 14) and the Lisa
Fully Automatic sterilizer.
World first: validated cleaning process
The new Assistina 3x3 is the only
handpiece maintenance unit offering a
validated process for both internal and
external cleaning, plus internal lubrica-
tion of handpieces and turbines. This
ensures handpieces are cleaning fully
inside and out, in the most consistent
and efficient manner, time after time.
The cleaning process of approximate-
ly six minutes for up to three instru-
ments conforms to the recommenda-
tions of the Robert Koch Institute and
Swissmedic, ensuring all instruments
are thoroughly maintained.
According to the manufacturer, W&H,
the Assistina 3x3 is not only fast, but
also very economical because only the
optimum amount of ActiveFluid clean-
ing solution and F1 lubrication fluid
is used. This makes the Assistina 3 x
3 ideal for busy surgeries. No special
training is required and operation of
the full cycle (internal and external
cleaning, internal lubrication and drying
ready for bagging) is as simple as a
single press of a button.
Sterilization
Using the Lisa Automatic steriliser’s
unique ‘made-to-measure’ sterilization
cycles, small loads can be completed
in as little as 20 minutes. Even larger
hollow loads can be turned around
quickly with a typical load taking just 33
minutes (on B Universal 134 cycle).
This feature saves energy, prolongs
the life of handpieces and provides a
quicker turnaround in the sterilization
room, without compromising steriliza-
tion standards.
Full Traceability options
W&H also pioneered the concept of
instrument traceability; to ensure the
entire sterilization process is car-
ried out to the required standards.
All sterilization and test cycle data
is automatically saved on an inte-
grated memory card with a USB data
read-out device for downloading and
archiving.
When coupled with a LisaSAFE label
printer, data from the batch code label
can be read directly into the patient
file with a barcode scanner or manu-
ally entered via keyboard. In paper-
based systems the barcode label is
simply peeled off and attached to the
patient card. As an additional failsafe,
no labels will be produced if cycle
parameters are not met.
The latest Lisa sterilizer features
a pass-code protected load-release
function so that only authorised staff
control the sterilization procedure as
part of a fully documented process.
