As explained earlier, the design department works in clean association with the Production
department. Once the design is approved by the product sponsor, the order form is issued to the
production department by the designer in which details of the stones and finishes are clearly
started. This order form is attached with a photocopy of the original rendering reviewed by Mr.
Sanjiv Verma and on his approval sent to the production.
The orignl rendering is going to showroom to be in the file in which product collection fits. E.g.
Gold and Bridal , Diamond , colored stones party once the order form is recieved by the

2.1 Design Concept
In order to produce unique piece, the very intital step is to create a design. This process of blueprint
designing is carried out by proficient craftsmen using techniques and methods hand down over
decades. Each piece of jewellery starts off with a concept. A concept is basically a rough design in
the mind of the designer. The final design is a result of close cooperation between designer and
craftsmen giving the art object a real hand crafted origin
2.2 Moulding
High technology mould once the master piece is complete. Wax reproductions of the jewellery.
Delivering the complete design sketch to the moulding section.Moulders then turns the sketch into
a master mould.

2.3 Embellishment
2.4 Finishing
Decorative stones of the correct sizes and weight are cut and extreme preciseness are then assorted
for the final setting. It requires immense patience and still to make master model and to produce an
exquisitely casting free from the defects.
Once the casting process is over the caster products will be delivered to the relevant department.
Then they will pay attention bringing smooth and softness on products. These casting products are
going into hand finished.
29
Fig :45 Embellishment
Fig :46 Embellishment
Fig :47 Dip in H2so4 Fig :48 Finishing Process
A typical gold arrives in the hand polishing department, after the sprue has been removed and that
sprue area has been surface ground. When the jewellery is finally finished, an average of five to ten
percent of precious gold may be on the floor with some on the workbench as fine dust that may or
may not be recovered. A major consideration for many jewelry producers and one that continues to
grow is the handling of waste water generated by a wet finishing process.
30
Fig :49 Finishing Gold Earrings
2.5 Casting
2.6 Polishing
Casting processing is currently world precious metal jewellery processing industry one of the most
commonly used method, the first method used in denture alloy casting process, called the buried
plaster casting. Casting process is characterized by variety beautiful, shape, and refined product ion
vary in size.
Every part must be polished while the mount is being made. The entire mount is carefully made
and clean and polished to highest degree of smoothness All tinctures of the polishing compounds
and rough must be meticulously got rid of either by carefull washing by hand, or by use of
supersonic cleanning baths.
31

2.7 Quality Checking
The caratage, weight, linking,
symmetry and finishing are the main
quality check consideration Points. For
the gold jewellery the Production
department carries out Stringent quality
check during the procurement of the
pieces.
In case of diamond jewellery, all the
pieces produced in house have to
undergo strict quality check at various
stages, production itself besides through
check at the finished date. The pieces
procured from outside are also subject
to a stringent quality check both in
terms of diamond and other stone
quality and also setting linking,
finishing.
The product is brought to checking the
department where each and every piece
is checked with excessive attention and
throughly checked for any defects. The
process of quality checking is done by
very experienced workers and all the
defecting pieces are sending back to the
respective department.

3 FUNCTION OF THE COMPANY
Jobwork Production
The manufacturing of Hand crafted jewellery for Punjab Jewellers is prepared exclusively in the
various Jewellery manufacturing units positioned in Karol Bagh on the basis of on the roll system.
Outsized part of handcrafted jewellery is more over sourced different manufactures and the
country Calcutta, Rajkot and Jaipur etc.
Advantages
Since the retailer does not have to control the production, he can concentrate more on marketing
his stock. The retailer does not have depend on limited number of artisian, he can deal with more
than one manufacture and avail their manpower. Overheads need not be include when the market
is recessing.Cost price can be reduced because of the competition between the manufactures.
Disadvantages
The workforce not being directly under control can result in delay of work . Different
manufactures may charges differently for the making the same piece creating an irregularity in
costing. The Design monopoly is difficult to maintain since the manufacturer has an interest in
making profits and may sell one jeweller’s design to another .Dealing with different set-up’s to
get the same product finished may be too cumbersome.
33
