Florence is the main character in The Mandibles. She has a large, eccentric family that includes her father Carter Mandible, grandfather Douglas, ex-wife Mimie Margarita, siblings Nollie, Jarred and Avery, and son Willing Darkley. The story also features Florence's partner Esteban, tenant Kurt, girlfriend Fifa and several other friends, neighbors and political figures in the United States.
