The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa has reached 45,973 as of June 6, 2020. The Western Cape province accounts for 66.1% of total cases. A total of 850,871 tests have been conducted nationally, with 30,196 tests conducted since the last report. Regrettably, 44 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the national death toll to 952. The mortality rate remains at 2%, below the global average of 6%. A total of 24,258 recoveries have been reported, translating to a 52.8% recovery rate.
