General ENZO MARTINS PERI has served in numerous international peacekeeping missions and commands the Brazilian Army. He spoke at the RUSI Land Warfare Conference on the strategic scenario and nature of future conflict. Future conflicts will be characterized by autonomy, centralized planning with decentralized execution, and the influence of social networks. Winning will require anticipating, learning, and adapting. Leadership will need sensitivity, flexible command and control, mobility, elasticity, and selective lethality. The strength of our forces will determine success in future conflicts.
