The Indians had success across multiple age groups in their games against La Puente. The Black team defeated La Puente behind strong performances on offense and defense. The Green team also defeated La Puente led by defensive players of the game David Martinez and Noah Gomez. The White team came from behind late to defeat West Covina. The Braves dominated La Puente 26-0 behind offensive player of the game Paul Garcia and defensive player of the game Aaron Martinez. The Warriors routed La Puente 47-0 led by the Black offense and defensive player of the game George Daniels. The Scouts played to a 7-7 tie against La Puente in a close game. 1. INDIANS’ WEEKLY!
October 18, 2012 Volume XI
“BLACK GOES ON THE ATTACK AGAINST LA PUENTE!
The Indians’ “Black” went on the attack Saturday during their contest against the La Puente
Warriors. The running game was solid as “Rio’s Offensive Players of the Game” Aidan Valen-
A. VALENCIA cia, Sahid Arreola-Gomez and Sergio Carcamo each scored a touchdown. “Rio’s Defensive Play-
S. ARREOLA-GOMEZ
S. CARCAMO ers of the Game” Adrian Torres, ChrisOrtiz , Joaquin Barragan and Brandon Valencia pulled 18
flags collectively to anchor down the defense and keep the Warriors at bay. “Overall we had a
good game against La Puente and are ready for an even better game this weekend against the El
Monte Jets” says Head Coach Bruno Torres. The Indians play the Jets “Gold” at 10:30 a.m. at
Grant Rea Park on Sunday.

“GREEN” POUNDS LA PUENTE INTO THE GROUND!
The “Green” machine continued it’s dominant ways as they pounded the La Puente “Black”
team into submission. They were led by “Rio’s Defensive Players of the Game” David Martinez
& Noah Gomez. The tandem has helped the defense hold the opposition from scoring, with
Martinez pulling his first flag of the season. “Gomez is relentless and never stops attacking the D. MARTINEZ

ball” says Head Coach Johnny Adargaz. “Rio’s Offensive Player of the Game” is Noah Pe-
rumean, an offensive lineman who is a blocking beast, creating holes for the running backs. Says
Adargaz, “We can’t execute our game plan without a solid line. Every player on our team de-
serves to be Players of the Game. I’m so proud of these young athletes and want to give thanks
to our staff and parents.” The Indians face the ELA Bobcats “Blue” on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. at
Grant Rea Park. N. PERUMEAN
“WHITE”WAITS ‘TIL LAST MINUTE TO COME ALIVE!
The “White” team found themselves in a tight spot in their game against the West Covina Bru-
ins “White” on Saturday. Fortunately, season long preparation allowed the team to come to life
literally at the very end of the game. “The fighting spirit and heart of our players is what made

the difference and secured our success, making it all the more special, we were put to the test
Z. GARCIA and came out on top,” says Head Coach Frank Lopez. “Rio’s Offensive Players of the Game”
Joshua Loera and Zach Garcia. Garcia orchestrated the offense and more notably, the running
game to help the Indians succeed. “Rio’s Defensive Players of the Game” were Mario Leon and
Robert Estrada, both helped the defense shut down the Bruins late in the game for their team to
come out ahead. The Indians will face the Pico Rivera Dons “White” team this Sunday at 12:00
noon at Grant Rea Park.

2. BRAVES’ DEFENSE DEVOURS WARRIORS, 26-0!
The Braves came out a little flat, but still dominated the La Puente Warriors. Whatever the reason
was, it did not affect the defense. The Braves’ defense has not allowed a single point all year and is
the perfect compliment to a powerful and explosive offense. “Rios Offensive Player of the Game”
QB #10 Paul Garcia directed the offense up and down the field completing 8 of 10 passes for two
TD’s, one to Sergio Ramirez and another to the “Rio’s Defensive Player of the Game” RB #11 P. GARCIA
Aaron Martinez, who doubles as a defensive standout and bolsters the un-scored upon defense.
Says Head Coach Armando Valencia, “We may have just been punching the clock and doing what
we do until we meet ELA and then go into the play-offs. We had to check ourselves not to over-
look La Puente because of the Conference Finalists coming into town. Touchdowns were added
by Nathan “One Touch Nate” Ancheta and another by Steven “Duece” Loera. The Indians face
the ELA Bobcats in what promises to be a fierce battle at 3:00 p.m., Sunday at Grant Rea Park.

INDIANS PROVE TO BE TRUE WARRIORS, 47-0!
The Indians’ PeeWee division team AKA “Warriors” proved they were the ones deserving of the
name. Playing as one unit, the offense executed flawlessly and the defense was devastating once
again! In the 1st Quarter, on the 1st play of the game, QB #32-Jason Morago connected with RB
#5-Angel Ramirez on a 50 yard pass for a TD and then a few minutes later, did so once again on a
64 yard pass for another TD. Morago then took the ball for a 28 yard TD run to finish the scoring
“BLACK” in the 1st. Quickly in the 2nd; Morago went 11 yards for a TD, then threw a 15 yard pass to
OFFENSE Ramirez for their 3rd TD connection. In the 3rd Quarter; Ramirez went 14 yards for a TD and in
the 4th; Morago rounded out the scoring by going 34 yards for yet another TD. Spectacular plays
like that do not happen with only two players, therefore the “Rio’s Offensive Players of the Game”
are the “Black Offense” which “played a great game against the Cougars last week and had a
breakout game accounting for three TD’s. They’ve made great improvements each week,” Says
Head Coach Jason Morago. “Rio’s Defensive Player of the Game” was DE #3 George Daniels,
Daniels has was basically “thrown into the DE position with one day of practice at the beginning
of the regular season and has done a great job ever since. He’s made the adjustment from Safety
down to Defensive End and performed beautifully. His versatility is a pleasant surprise for our
G. DANIELS team,” says Defensive Coordinator Kevin Rivas. The Indians will face the ELA Bobcats as they
begin the day’s action at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday at Grant Rea Park.
INDIANS VICTORIOUS OVER VIKINGS, 32-6!
The Indians’ defense is so good, that their games can be a bit “Ho-Hum” as was noted in last
week’s newsletter “by-line.” That’s not to say that they’re boring in any way shape or form, it’s
just that they don’t let you believe that the opponent has ANY chance of winning. Led by
“Rio’s Offensive Player of the Game” RB #2-Mike Vital the offense did not miss a beat and
operated smoothly and effectively. “Rios Defensive Player of the Game” FS #13-Dmitri Mata,
provided the excitement on the other side of the ball with multiple interceptions and tackles.
The Indians are still without starting QB #7-Adrian Lemus, but the combination of QB #10- M. VITAL
Airrick Nava and RB/QB/WR #20-Greg Nevarez, have picked up the slack and guided the
offense very effectively. Worthy of special attention is Greg Nevarez, as one of (if not the best)
RB’s in the conference, he has made the transition to the QB spot to facilitate the success of
the team. It’s a hard thing to do, because although the QB spot is the “flash” on the team, the
RB gets to put the ball in the end zone for the most part, that’s passion, sacrifice...teamwork!
The Indians take on the ELA Bobcats in the night cap game at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Grant Rea
Park. Don’t fall asleep, you’ll miss something special! D. MATA
3. SCOUTS SCRAPPY, PLAY TO A 7-7 TIE!
The Indians’ Scouts provided yet another exciting, nail biting game that came down to the wire
against the La Puente Warriors. Tied at 7-7, the Indians mounted what looked to be a go ahead
drive deep into the Warriors territory inside their 10 yard line. The drive ended due in large to
consecutive holding penalties and a quarterback sack. The point is, this team played hard and
only mistakes stopped them from victory. “Rio’s Offensive Player of the Week” was RB
Omarion Johnson who made some great runs and gave the offense the power running it’s
been looking for. “Rio’s Defensive Player of the Week” was LB Andre Maldonado who an-
chors down the defense from the middle linebacker position and had one tackle after another.
A. SANTOSCOY
Although not the “Rio’s Players of the Week,” Head Coach Julio Baez would like to hi-lite
#52 Vincent Torres and #88 Alex Santoscoy. Coach Baez says; “Torres has worked himself
into the starting center position and is always mixing it up. He’s worked hard at eliminating
turnovers with the QB exchange and the results are paying dividends. We were unsure where
Alex would “fit in” on either side of the ball, but he’s found a home on defense and has ex-
celled at it. He made several great tackles against the Warriors and nearly had an interception
that slipped through his fingers. He is one of the many nine year old players that will return to
the Scouts next year and make an impact.” The Scouts will take on the ELA Bobcats on Sun-
day at 1:00 p.m. at Grant Rea Park. V. TORRES
