It functionedasthe AutomatedCirculation System pilot location and was the first County library to
make use of the new online circulation system in the year 1989. In 1915 there were 213 library
cardholders and 412 books were there on the tables. The circulation for the year 1915 was 3,433. If
we talk about today, then it has reached approximately 200,000 with 40,000 registered borrowers.
The library consists of 141,177 books for adults and children, 6,491 audio tapes, 7,550 video copies
and 188 magazine andnewspapersubscriptionscontainingEnglishandSpanishlanguagemagazines,
and local and national newspapers.Exceptional collections comprise of the R. D. Boggs Sheet Music
Collection,flowinghistorical American flags, and a complete set of California Deerings' Codes. The
Brakensiek Library provides a complete variety of services containing general reference support,
online library catalogs that offer admission to the entire County Library assortment and to online
reference records; public admittance Internet computers. Children's programs comprise of a
Homework Center for children in ratings 3-6 and a Grandparents and Books program.
Situated in the Bellflower Civic Center, the 21,240 square foot building structures 2 orientation
