Academia & Translation Even though I started out in academia, doing a Ph.D. in history, I chose to start working full-time as a freelance translator after having been teaching for 2 years at university. The freedom to be able to manage my own work day was very important when taking the decision to go freelance. So since +10 years I now work as a freelance translator and interpreter.
