2. Locations
The interior of the consultants office and taxi are
both studio builds, whereas the café and hospital
exterior are both shot on-location.
The café is used to give a sense of calm and relaxation
whereas the office is used to give a sense of
worry, the cut between these two locations builds up
tension before the car crash.
The taxi allows the two characters to constantly look
at each other rather than focus on driving, this allows
continuous conversation.
3. Objects and props
Flowers which are scattered around the woman
symbolize death as they represent the flowers which
are used at funerals, showing her death is certain.
The flowers also increase the sense of tragedy.
Her floral dress compliments the flowers, increasing
the sense of death.
The wedding ring is shown during times of
uncertainty, the man’s ring is the main focus showing
it’s importance in the show.
4. lighting
The light is placed behind the couple in the taxi, if light is
used as a symbol for life it could be suggested they are
moving away from life and/or leaving it behind.
The woman’s face is slightly shadowed before the doctor’s
appointment, this could be for-shadowing her death.
The doctor’s office is the only place with un-natural light. It
emphasizes the the cruelty of her death since she is giving
good news in a place where the light it un-natural, the sun
is not present there.
