This poem expresses the grief of losing a loved one who has passed away. It describes how a part of the speaker died along with their loved one, and how they miss and cry for them a million times. While the speaker visits their grave, placing flowers with care, no one else understands the deep heartache they feel of having lost their loved one and wishing that if possible, they could build a way to heaven to bring them back.
1. It broke my hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone,
Apart of me went with you,
The day god took you home.
A million times i missed you,
A million times i cried,
If love could have saved you,
You never would have died.
To the grave i travel,
The flowers are placed with care,
No-one knows the heartache,
As i turn to leave you there.
If tears could build a stairway,
And heartaches could make a lane,
id walk a path to heaven,
And bring you back again.
