Main Ideas

•China wanted a different way to go into their market economy
after being a communist country for so long.
•China feels that communist dictatorship and a market economy
are compatible.
•They discovered decollectivization.
•Market reforms began under the leadership of Dang
Xiaoping, the successor.
• China’s view is that the upsetting of the political
  system would generate endless debate.
• Decollectivization and price reform significantly
  strengthened production incentives and swiftly
  moved the Chinese economy.
• The increased productivity in agriculture freed up
  labor resources to a growing number of privately
  owned rural manufacturing firms called township
  and village enterprises.
