The Sochi Winter Olympics were held in Sochi, Russia in 2014. Sochi is a city on the Black Sea coast near the Caucasus Mountains with a subtropical climate. It has over 300,000 permanent residents and hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics as well as the Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Chiropractic care has been provided to Olympic athletes since 1968, when the first chiropractor treated the Aruba team. Chiropractors have been part of the US Olympic team's medical staff since 1980. By 2008, the US team sent four chiropractors and appointed the first chiropractic medical director.
