Tasks assigned to students and their impact on learning are controversial topics in education. This study aims to understand teachers' practices and beliefs about school tasks through a Likert scale survey. The researchers propose using information and communication technologies (ICT) through virtual learning communities as an innovative alternative. Virtual communities could help address needs identified and give teachers an innovative way to complement traditional teaching methodologies.

2. Tasks and their impact on student learning are some of the most
important topics controversial issues of education, given the numerous
supporters and detractors with that counts (Costley, 2013; Pan, et al.,
2013). This topic is of vital relevance for the education professionals who
are concerned about giving an innovative character to their work
teacher, given that this practice is related to more traditional
methodologies and productive, reason why we decided to center our
object of study in the implantation of the TIC in educational centers
through virtual learning communities as an alternative innovative With this
study, based on the results obtained through a Likert scale, to know the
practices and beliefs that teachers have about school tasks. We intend to
make an innovative proposal with ICT through virtual communities of
learning, which can serve to respond to the needs identified.
We use the concept of "tasks" as a synonym of "duties". The Dictionary of
the Language of the Royal Spanish Academy defines "duties" as "the
exercises that, as a complement to what they learned in class, they are in
charge, to make them out of it, to the student of the first grades
teaching". According to Pan et al. (2013), are "those tasks assigned by
teachers to students to be held outside of school hours in order for the
skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom can be transferred to
other environments. "
