To The Grade 10 Life Orientation
Learners
This week we will be focusing on the topic that we have been working on which is Culture and
Society. You will be challenged to complete four activities stipulated for you to complete. I
have added the lecture slides of the class presentation I had based on this topic. It is in interest
to in depth read the lecture slides and do research for clarification on concepts and ideas that
appears unclear. I have provided you with a link that can be accessed with internet ONLY,
once you have accessed the link a folder with all activities that has been requested to be
completed by you. Hope this challenge helps in the progression of your understanding of this
topic…ENJOY
1. Activity one is a worksheet that one needs to complete but the referral to lecture
slides and textbook is of high importance as well as the internet preferably Google
Scholar for the information based on the countries one has to refer to when
answering the question based on America and England .
2. Activity two will be a revision due to the fact that the possible reasons are provided as
to why the answers to the True & False questions are stated as they have been given.
Use this as a source of revision for the Test coming up soon. Please make use of this
it is highly important.
3. Activity three will be based on a quiz about Sociology I have given this quiz to
challenge you in terms of your research skills this meaning you have to use the
internet preferably the site mention in instruction one for activity one. Suppose you
are a sociology student and answer the quiz thoroughly. Some of the terminology will
appear familiar in relation to the society topic found in your text book; the textbook
can also be used for referral purposes. Enjoy the challenge.
4. In activity four read the article based on secondary socialization and the answer the
questions that follow. When answering these questions make sure that you
understand the bold terminology in the text. Use the dictionary to define the terms in
bolded print use the lecture slides based on socialization to help you as well.
5. Use this link to access the activities and the lecture notes based on the topic that is
been focused on. C:UsersGeneralDocumentsSociology Activities For Grade 10

instigate the tasks and do research in relation to work that is not fully understood this is
referral to (Authentic Characteristic 3 ,which is found in Reeves, Herrington, & Oliver,
2002.Authentic activities comprise complex tasks to be investigated by students over a
