President Obama addressed the conference to speak about the importance of local leadership and announce his new TechHire initiative to partner with cities, higher education and the private sector to expand access to tech jobs in communities across the country.

American folk music. The city of Nashville will play host to NLC’s annual Congress of Cities, which takes
place this November 4-7 at the Nashville Music City Center.

8. Long lines were the order of the day on the morning of the President’s speech, with some attendees waiting
more than three hours to pass through security. However, the process ran smoothly and conference delegates
remained cheerful and upbeat as they enthusiastically waited to see the commander-in-chief.
