1. A customer experienced rejection of sheet metal
due to the presence of inclusions. An analysis of
the defects using optical and scanning electron
microscopy revealed the presence of rolled-in
impurities including iron. Using microstructural
characterization, Secat identified inclusions in
the sheet and suggested possible sources, which
was traced to contamination in the lubrication.
