The black-footed ferret lives in prairie dog burrows in the grasslands of North America, preying mostly on prairie dogs but also other small mammals. It is nocturnal and endangered due to hunting and poisoning, consuming 50-70 grams of meat per day and up to 100 prairie dogs per year, though conservation efforts aim to help the species.
