the wide spaces of the Internet.
Part 1 - History of the line
As stated in Jack Wilson’s book, the Catalonian
line was introduced in January 1927.
The Catalonian line was another line created by
Reuben Haley, both the process to make it and
the design. Consolidated’s best selling line and
chief profit maker. That explains why there is
an ample supply of this line in the secondary
glass market. However, there are rarities within
the line that can be very difficult to acquire.
You will see both categories of Catalonian glass
in the presentation.
Here is the cover of a catalogue for the line. One can see the August 1927 date in the upper left hand corner.
Page two of the August 1927 catalogue.
Page three of the August 1927 catalogue.
Page four of the August 1927 catalogue.
Although the company referred to it as “The Glass of Old Spain”,
the glass workers themselves used the terms “bubble glass”
“blister glass” or “Smear Glass” to refer to this line.
Here are two more patent pages. Recognize the shapes?
This patent drawing is for “Bubbled Colored Glass Articles” .
