John James Audubon was a French-American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. He is famous for his illustrations and descriptions of North American birds in his book The Birds of America. Audubon spent his life observing, drawing, and cataloging birds across North America to create the most comprehensive picture of bird species on the continent during his time in the early 19th century.
