ServingWashington’sTristate area
since she opened her firm in 1998,
Susan Gulick has designed interiors ac-
cording to her client’s individual needs.
“Like most designers,I feel confident
I can make anything look good, but if it
doesn’t function for the client, the way
they live and what they want, then I
haven’t done my job,”she says.If her
client wants a low-key environment
practical for five growing kids and two
Wonderfully Livable and
Sophisticated Interiors
dogs,like a custom
15,000 square foot
farmhouse,then that’s
what she and her full-
service design team
delivers.
Design projects
are important life
events.A testament
to Gulick’s work
is that she has is a
professional fixture
in the lives of many
committed clients
who have used her
for multiple projects,
such as building
a second home in
another region.“Each
client is different and
brings a unique set of
challenges,which we
love,”Gulick says.
In all projects,
Gulick creates a
clean look that
integrates the client’s
personal style.
Signature elements
such as elegant
fabrics,lustrous decorative paint,
handcrafted artful area rugs,and
unique custom millwork designs
make each project feel exclusive
to the owner. Inspired by her
fine arts background,she loves
selecting original artwork to
give rooms a final layer of depth.
“It makes all the difference to
have art on the walls,”Gulick says.
“It’s the icing on the cake.”
Acute attention to aesthetic
details is merely one aspect of
Gulick’s talent.As the daughter
of an engineer,she inherited a
mechanical sixth sense of how
to properly problem solve and
execute designs.As a result,
Gulick and her team have adopted
an all hands on deck synergy
where everyone is vested in
understanding and implementing
the client’s vision.
“We’re always welcoming
new clients and new challenges
because that is what we do,”she
says,“and we do it well.”
