Pound Shelter Improvements
        “Do what you can
       with what you have
         where you are”
Early October

                 Storage inside the
                building is an issue
                as there is just not
                  enough room for
                    everything.
We have four pens that need updating to make them “small dog
                          worthy”.

                                   Small dogs are able to
                                   escape from the gaps in
                                   these panels.

Currently these pens are a mix
& match of different type and
size panels.
Mikki has a plan…she sends me pictures of her plan…
                       I’m thinking Lord help me!!!
Thank goodness for the Coyote Ridge Crew!!!

  This is a diagram
    of the current
    building, newly
   added shed, and
  now reconfigured
       city pens

                                                                   This is a
                                                                 diagram of
                                                                     the
                                                                reconfigured,
                                                                what used to
                                                                  be called
                                                                holding pens,
                                                                which are now
                                                                  pens 7-10
If you are thinking this is hard to read imagine how I felt
trying to read it while I was trying to direct the crew…
We began by tearing down the existing holding pens. We then used some
heavy duty panels that were ay Clydes & purchased some kennels from
Del’s. The purpose of doing this was to make these four pens more small
dog worthy.
We also turned the city pens to
make more space and to make
                         them more accessible to the
                                power outlets.

  Clear plastic tarps
 were put up on the
 sides to allow for a
 wind break but still
allow the dogs to see
         out.
Next came raising the roofs.  This was really a
job…and with no directions, it was all in Mikki’s head!

                                               Ron Rocks!!!!

                                  Mikki 

   Thank you to
   Veronica and
     Bubba!!!
The new storage shed
   has allowed us to
  move a lot of stuff
  out of the inside &
   just have what is
necessary. This allows
 for less stuff on the
     floor & better
        cleaning.
A major blessing has been the work crew from Coyote
Ridge that has been coming about every 2 weeks to
               help around the shelter.
                                     *pick up poop
                                     *rake pens level
                                     *fill dog houses w/shavings
                                     *clean water buckets
                                     *spray disinfectant
                                     *hold dogs for vaccinations &
                                     worming
                                     *walk dogs

     They have also made some
        improvements such as
    installing these cinder blocks
under the gates so the dogs
         are not digging out.
As if the improvements outside, the roofs & tarps for
sheltering are not wonderful enough, the improvements
on the inside are awesome as well!!!

Yes you are seeing a sink
                                 with a hot water heater!!!

 Having these rolling bases on
these dog food cans have made
them so much easier to move
     around & clean under!
Our volunteers have really stepped up to the
challenge. Thank you to all our daily volunteers for
                their devotion. 
