(Yikes!)
3. A clogged RV toilet usually comes off when you least expect
it, so it is important to know how to unclog it and keep it
functioning.
4. Read on to learn some quick and easy tips on how to clear an
RV toilet clog.
5. What causes an RV toilet clog?
For most RVs, the main cause of clogged toilets is called a
“pyramid plug” or a pile of waste and toilet paper that has
built up from the bottom of your holding tank. For some, the
case may be as simple as getting their waste water tank full
but for most people, the pyramid plug is the culprit.
6. Steps in Unclogging an RV Toilet
In the previous blog, we mentioned the things that you will be
needing in order to get rid of the clog. Now here are the steps
that you need to follow:
7. 1. Once you and your helper have put on your protective
clothing, position him near the black water tank valve.
2. Place your large bucket beneath the sewer tank opening
then open the valve. Have your helper open the sewer
tank and let the waste fall into the bucket until there is
nothing left.
8. If there’s no flow, here’s what you should do:
1. Take the plumber’s snake and push it up until you hit the
clog. Work it up and down and see if you can get some
movement. Let the waste exit the hose and enter the
bucket.
2. If you get no further movement after some attempts, you
may consider calling for professional help.
9. There are some things you can do to prevent clogs from
happening in the future and to properly care for your RV
toilet system:
1. Use septic safe toilet paper
2. Flush often, use more water
3. Use natural holding tank treatment
