Criterion A Assessment task for Year 9
This is a PRE & POST GAME STRATEGY AND OBSERVATION task
1. My name: Micah WaringClass 9eMy Opponent Tanya Gandi
2. Describe the strategy that you plan to use to defeat your opponent. Remember to justify
your choice of strategy. (Use many badminton terms appropriately).
My strategy is to use overhead clears and slams because Tanya’s weakness are high shots
because the light “hurts” her eyes, I will also use slams to her body because it looks difficult
for her to return the and net shots/smashes to the edges of the court because she can move
position herself for the high balls but when I smash it to the ground she can not really position
herself for it.
3. Play the match
4. What was the outcome of the match? Score: _23-25 I WON LOST (circle one)
5. (a) Was your strategy successful? (b) Did you adjust your plan? Why or why not?
My strategy was successful in the way it worked but unsuccessful because I lost. I adjusted my
plan normally just before I was about the return the shuttle so that’s why I messed up a bit,
because after a while I felt like she knew my plan. But I should of decided that earlier, in the
end it was a great game though.
6. If you were going to play this opponent again what things would you like to try differently?
I don’t think as much about changing my strategy, but I would try to not think about my
strategy while I’m playing but after I won or loss point to analysis what I did well and not so
well and improve that, and/or see the ways I am following my strategy and what’s being
successful and un successful.
7. Assume that this would be a medal match at an upcoming competition. How might you
train to improve your chances against this opponent? What specific skills or tactics do you
need,to improve your game?
I would train on my agility and my reflexes so moving my racket quickly or reacting faster. I
would also work on my left hand so I could be quicker to return the ball.
