I love statically-typed functional programming languages, in particular Haskell and Scala, and how to build reliable systems using them. I know the MapReduce programming model and its most famous implementation Hadoop for which I made a scheduler and I extended the underneath signal system. I usually program Hadoop using Scalding. I'm studying Spark and stream-processing systems like Storm.
