A Day Without Mexicans
We watched a video about what would happen if for one day all of the Mexicans disappeared. It
showed that the 90% of crop workers are Mexican in California and the restaurants and people
all over would not get their fruits and vegetables and the ones that were available would sky
rocket in price. The schools would have problems because 20% of all the teachers in the schools
are Mexican in California and this would hurt the students that would lose their teachers and
their education would suffer. The baseball team in California would not be able to play because
eight of its members on the LA Dodgers are Latino. It showed at one time a restaurant owned
going to a sort of drug dealer for vegetables and fruits because they were so hard to come by in
California. Agriculture is the number one industry in California so if 90% of their workers are
Latino the agriculture industry would come to a holt if all of the Latinos where to disappear.
People complain about the Mexicans and how they should go back to their home country but in
fact Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada all use to
belong to the Mexicans before we won them in the Spanish American War. People should be
educated on this fact before they say mean things about the Latino culture. We all are different in
our own ways and we shouldn’t judge someone because of their ethnicity. One day the Latino
culture might be the residing culture in the US and the white people will be the minority so we
should treat people the way we want to be treated.
