Mark Macarro, tribal chairman for the Penchanga Band of Luiseno
Indians, is an advocate for California’s Native Americans. He has been
named to Capital Weekly’s Top 100 for his political involvement. In
addition to his work in politics, Mark Macarro is a member of the
Native American Rights Fund (NARF), a group dedicated to providing
legal resources to Native American tribes, groups, and individuals.
NARF’s main priorities fall into five areas: preservation of tribal
existence, protection of tribal natural resources, promotion of Native
American human rights, government accountability to Native
Americans, and public education about and development of Native
American law, issues, and rights. Those interested in supporting NARF

2. Make a planned gift. NARF benefits significantly from donations of
stocks and bonds, real estate, and retirement assets of those who
wish to make a difference in the lives of Native peoples. Certain
charitable gifts made to NARF can also yield tax benefits or streams
of income for donors.
3. Make a purchase from NARF’s digital store. Proceeds from all
apparel and other merchandise purchased from the online NARF
store are applied to the nonprofit’s operations. Available items
