Mario Gates is an advocate for the LGBT community and a former police officer. Gates was the first openly gay officer in his department. With LGBT issues close to his heart, Gates has done work in the Stockdon, California area to create safe spaces for LGBT youth. He has also fought to create legislation against bullying. Gates works hard to prevent mental health issues in LGBT youth.
