BA keen to be strategic investor in India British Airways, the world’s third largest carrier, is keen to be a strategic investor in an Indian aviation company when foreign carriers are allowed to invest in the sector. “ We are looking at opportunities in India, says British Airways CEO Willie Walsh.’’ He announced a code-share agreement with Kingfisher Airlines and introduced the latest plane from the Boeing stable – Boeing 777- 300ER- for some select Indian routes.
Over – exposure blurs edge of star power When celebs such as Dhoni and Big B endorse too many brands, consumers fail to connect with the products. Dhoniendorses twenty –two different brands. On an average, advertisements of each brand runs 400 times a day on twenty top satellite television channels. If each ad runs for 22 seconds, he is endorsing 22 brands 24 hrs. everyday. How many of them can one recall or remember to be honest!
Cotton Exports “ Govt. will allow cotton exports of upto 55 lakh bales (one Indian bale = 170 kgs) in the current financial year” said commerce secretary RahulKhullar. Ceiling of upto 55 lakh bales of cotton export effective from October 1 will be revised in mid November and shipments beyond that will attract export duty. During the financial year 2010-11 total ctton production in the country is expected to remain 325 lakh bales.
Contd…. At present all cotton exports attrtact a duty of Rs 2500 per tonne. India is the second biggest producer, consumer and exporter of cotton and about 60% of the current season shipments have gone to China, which is the largest consumer.
Maruti Sales Maruti-Suzuki  India  has sold 1,04,791 vehicles in the month of august. It is Maruti-Suzuki India’s largest ever sales in a single month posting a rise of 24% over last year. Hyundai Motors India posted 17% increase in sales.
Max Plans 60 Stores Across India Leading fashion retail chain Max of Dubai based landmark group aims to establish 60 stores in India by 2010-11. On 3rd September Max launched its first store at Bhopal. Its aims to take its offerings to customers across India including all metros and key Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. At present it has 33 stores across India and plans to take it to 60 by 2010-11.
