1. BA keen to be strategic investor in India British Airways, the world’s third largest carrier, is keen to be a strategic investor in an Indian aviation company when foreign carriers are allowed to invest in the sector. “ We are looking at opportunities in India, says British Airways CEO Willie Walsh.’’ He announced a code-share agreement with Kingfisher Airlines and introduced the latest plane from the Boeing stable – Boeing 777- 300ER- for some select Indian routes.

3. Cotton Exports “ Govt. will allow cotton exports of upto 55 lakh bales (one Indian bale = 170 kgs) in the current financial year” said commerce secretary RahulKhullar. Ceiling of upto 55 lakh bales of cotton export effective from October 1 will be revised in mid November and shipments beyond that will attract export duty. During the financial year 2010-11 total ctton production in the country is expected to remain 325 lakh bales.
4. Contd…. At present all cotton exports attrtact a duty of Rs 2500 per tonne. India is the second biggest producer, consumer and exporter of cotton and about 60% of the current season shipments have gone to China, which is the largest consumer.
5. Maruti Sales Maruti-Suzuki India has sold 1,04,791 vehicles in the month of august. It is Maruti-Suzuki India’s largest ever sales in a single month posting a rise of 24% over last year. Hyundai Motors India posted 17% increase in sales.
6. Max Plans 60 Stores Across India Leading fashion retail chain Max of Dubai based landmark group aims to establish 60 stores in India by 2010-11. On 3rd September Max launched its first store at Bhopal. Its aims to take its offerings to customers across India including all metros and key Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. At present it has 33 stores across India and plans to take it to 60 by 2010-11.
