This presentation is about relationship between the insertion/application of music in the corporate and seeing the sequential impact on the productivity and well-being of employees. This relationship has been explained with the help of casual loop diagram and stock flow diagram .
3. Let us begin
We all know that “music has charm to soften rocks, or
bend a knotted oak.” But does it have any effect at all on
busy, stressed-out working people? According to many
researches, it certainly does.
4. Introduction
The presence of music in people’s lives is commonplace, whether
in leisure, religion, at functions, in commercials, on soundtracks
for films and soap operas, among others. However, is music only
to be heard or could it be used for other purposes? Functional
music is presented from this perspective, where its extra-musical
applications are based on the psychophysiological effects caused
by music on the human being.
According to Gatti and Selva, music is to be heard passively,
where sound perceptions takes place unconsciously, such as the
atmospheric or background music used in restaurants, medical
and physiotherapy clinics, working places, supermarkets and
others. This is related to the idea that music could be used to
improve human activities.
5. Need
Since past years, the need for music as a stress reliever is found so relevant and
practicable on the customers in malls, hotels, shops, etc. but now the need is
expanding or say covering the initial stages where the employees are actually
building the product/service for the people. Previous researches show a huge
positive impact of music on the productivity as individual and also as a team.
Music is not only helpful at working or shopping place, but it also improves
your personal life balance, your emotional balance, spiritual consciousness,
health aliment, mental health improvements, etc.
Therefore, it is important to understand the dynamics behaving in the
management system and its impacts by the insertion of music.
6. Some Examples
• Nextiva (Scottsdale, Arizona), a cloud-based communications provider with 400
employees, uses music throughout the office for motivation.
• Music helps keep the employees of PromotionCode.org, an online source of discount
codes, focused.
• Research from Cornell University has found that employees who listen to happy music are
able to cooperate and make group decisions better than employees who work without a
background soundtrack.
Task Versus Playlist
In your workplace, the most important thing you need to do is match the music to the task.
Nicole Stillings, aka DJ Rose, is a New York City-based music director who creates playlists for
companies such as Saks Fifth Avenue and HBO that help with branding. She also chooses music
that helps companies achieve certain goals, like focus and productivity.
7. • Requires focus, like writing, you’re using the
language part of the brain,” she says. “You can
create overload if you try to listen to music
that has heavy vocals. It’s better to listen to
something down tempo, like elevator or
classical music.”
She suggests this playlist:

“Fleur Blanche” by Orsten
“My Deep & Magical Ambient- Guitar Version” by
Stigmato Inc
“A Gentle Dissolve” by Thievery Corportation

25. Concluding Remarks
• Music has a way of expressing that, which cannot
be put into words. It is for several reasons that
music is regarded as one of the triumphs of human
creativity. Music has increasingly become apart of
the modern-day work session. With so much of our
work now being done at computers, music has
become an important way to “optimize the boring.”
