The magic door was built between 1655-1680 by Marquis Palombara, a passionate alchemist seeking to transform metals into gold. A mysterious man approached the Marquis asking for money and space to search for the philosopher's stone. After experiments, the man disappeared, leaving behind a bit of gold and an unsolved formula engraved on the door frame. Another legend says the Marquis found an alchemical formula in an old book but was unable to solve it, engraving it on the door frame in hopes others could succeed where he failed.
