Phoolan Devi was born into poverty in India and forced into an abusive child marriage. She was later imprisoned and gang raped, which led her to form an outlaw gang. After recognizing some of her rapists, she killed 22 men in retaliation for what became known as the St. Valentine's Day massacre. Devi eventually surrendered to authorities and served 11 years in prison. After her release, she was elected to parliament but was later assassinated by a man seeking revenge for the earlier killings.

2. Phoolan Devi was born in August 1963 in a small
village in Uttar Pradesh, in a very poor family.. At age
11 she was forced to marry a 20-year-old man who
sexually abused her on an ongoing basis. Phoolan
escaped from her husband and returned to her
family's home, being rejected and reported for
robbery.
In 1979 she was imprisoned in Behmai.
Each night for two weeks, a group of
Thakur men gang-raped Phoolan, most of
the times until she lost consciousness.
After three weeks, she managed to
escape and form a gang.

3. Almost two years later, Phoolan started to rob the
villagers in Buhmai. One day, she recognised two
of the men of the gang that had raped her. The
other villagers didn´t tell her about the whereabouts
of the gang leaders, so she assembled the men in a
line and opened fire. 22 men died in what became
known as the St. Valentine massacre.
Afterwards, the police began to chase Devi, but
she always managed to scape. In 1983, she finally
surrended to the authorities after all the members
in her gang had died. She spent 11 years in prison
and got out as a reformed person, which made her
be elected to the Indian parliament. There, she
tried to establish a reputation as a champion of the
oppressed in India.
On July 25, 2001, Phoolan
Devi was fatally shot as she
got out of her car at the gate
of her New Delhi residence.
Sher Singh Rana confessed
to the murder, saying he was
avenging the deaths of 22
Kshatriyas at Behmai.
