Mount Rushmore National Memorial features a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore in South Dakota depicting the 60-foot heads of four US presidents - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum designed and oversaw the project from 1927 to 1941 to represent the birth, growth, development, and preservation of the United States. The memorial park covers over 1,278 acres at an elevation of 1,745 meters above sea level.
