2. My research topic is...
I will be researching how the second amendment and its abuse are directly related
to the amount of violent crimes in America. I will be arguing that the second
amendment is to broad and there has to be more regulation on firearms in the
united States. The amount of firearms related deaths in America are much higher
than other countries and it is directly related to the law made over 200 years ago.
The problem is still growing and effects every citizen because anyone can become
a victim.
3. History of the gun related violence
December 15, 1791 the bill of rights goes into effect in the united states.
December 18, 1917 The eighteenth amendment bans the sale and production of
liquor in the United states providing opportunity for organized crime and
automatic weapons into public hands.
To this day the effects of automatic weapons still carry a heavy burden on the
American people for it seems like there is a new tragedy every month.
4. Individuals involved in gun violence
1. The Founding Fathers that created the second amendment because they
created the living document that still has impacts on our daily lives.
2. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold (columbine shooters) are prime examples of how
two teenagers were able to cause terror and the nations response was not enough
to prevent it from happening again.
3. Stephen Paddock (Las vegas shooter) committed the largest shooting y a lone
gunman in American history. This too place 18 years after the columbine shooting
and there were no counter measures made.
5. Questions I have about gun violence
1. How many attempts have there been to limit firearm ownership on the state
level?
2. How many terroristic plans have been stopped because of Law enforcement?
3. How difficult is it for an average American citizen to obtain a firearm?
4. What active measures are taken to prevent gun violence In the United states?
6. A viewpoint about gun violence I disagree with
The major argument for increasing the distribution and production of firearms is
that is that they have protection under the second amendment. The people who
make these arguments say that they need firearms for self defense or hunting and
that the government should not be able to take away their constitutional rights.
They say that If the government takes away one of the constitutional rights it will
only be a matter of time before they take away all of them.
