My association with public affairs and community involvement has led me to valuable experiences. When I began teaching science I quickly became a public figure by thinking outside of the box both inside and outside of the classroom. I wrote grants, became a presenter at national conventions, dedicated wetlands, headed beach local beach clean-up efforts for the Texas Land Commissioner, and formulated new scholarship funds by exercising development skills. Later at NASA I was tasked with the team development and oversight of a comprehensive communications strategy concerning the Vision for Space Exploration for future explorers.
