2. 95th CA Bde Soldiers march in Veterans Day Parade
About 70 Soldiers from all of the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne) four battalions
and headquarters company represented the US. Army Special Operations
Command at Fayetteville’s annual Veterans Day parade on Sat., Nov. 6. Led by
Col. James Wolff and Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas Wall, the Civil Affairs unit was
part of a battalion-size contingent representing Fort Bragg that marched on the
length of Hay street into the heart of the city’s downtown historic district.
…Julie MacTaggart and 7-year-old Justin had good reason to be out in the raw, windy cold of
Saturday morning. Mother and son sat just off the edge of Hay Street, wrapped in warm
blankets and waiting to see the patriarch of the family march by.
"My dad's first in the parade," said Justin, who quickly emerged from a shy shell once his
mother nudged him along.
An estimated 2,500 people gathered along Hay Street for the 13th annual Fayetteville Veterans
Day Parade. The one hour, 20-minute parade featured high school marching bands and ROTC
units, rifle routines, Shriners riding go-carts and military veterans. It also featured such modern-
day military equipment as a light medium tactical vehicle, a Striker anti-tank guided missile
carrier, a tactical ambulance and the new Humvee-MRAP hybrid armored fighting vehicle.
Enthusiasm and applause were as abundant as the cold hands stuck deep in pockets.
