Based on
Global Managerial roles
 Can the GLOBE framework presented in this
chapter be used to guide managers in a Thai
hospital or a government agency in Venezuela?

 Organizational behavior is a field of study that
investigates the impact that individuals, groups
and structures have on behavior within an
organization. It is an interdisciplinary field that
includes sociology, psychology, communication,
and management; and it complements the
academic studies of organizational theory (which
is focused on organizational and intra-
organizational topics) and human resource studies
(which is more applied and business-oriented). It
may also be referred to as organizational studies or
organizational science. The field has its roots in
industrial and organizational psychology.
The global manager has to play multidimensional role by combining
his technical skill, people skill and soft skill. the manager must have
combination of hard as well as soft skills. He must be able to organize,
analyze and motivate people at international level.
GLOBAL MANAGER HAS FOLLOWING ROLES :
1. IN THE CAPACITY OF COUNTRY MANAGER.
The global manager has to deal with clients, legal bodies,
immigration authorities on behalf of his office.
2. IN THE CAPACITY OF FUNCTIONAL MANAGER.
The global manager has to select right technique, right resources,
software projects to compete at international level.
3. IN THE CAPACITY OF BUSINESS LEADER.
The global manager has to make changes in the organization keeping
in mind the trend of World and requirement of outsourcing.
Managing a Thai hospital :
Here the primary motto of a manager would be
to provide relevant health services to people
depending on type of organization whether it is
profit motive or not.
 It is no different than other managerial acts
performed in the other fields .
Here managers have to deal with same stuffs
like employees,maintainance,progress report
,annual accomplishments and so on.
For a government agency on Venezuela :
Since it is a government based organization its
economic aspect would be planned economy.
Here managers are under the authority of the
government and they should use their global
skills to communicate under the supervision of
the government passing through several
diversities .
 Yes, the GLOBE framework discussed earlier is
applicable to both situations. Managers must
first understand the unique cultural
characteristics of each country in order to
modify management decisions and practices. .

It is an interdisciplinary field that includes sociology, psychology, communication, and management; and it complements the academic studies of organizational theory (which is focused on organizational and intra- organizational topics) and human resource studies (which is more applied and business-oriented). It may also be referred to as organizational studies or organizational science. The field has its roots in industrial and organizational psychology.

The global manager has to make changes in the organization keeping in mind the trend of World and requirement of outsourcing.
