2.1 Safety gear
2.2.1 Ventilating system
Any type of service should be performed in a well-ven-
tilated area. If the engine should be started in an en-
closed place, an exhaust vent pipe should be installed
to the outside.
California Proposition 65 Warning
Inhaling exhaust gas can cause cancer or damage
the generative function leading to infertility.
•
WARNING
When working on the tractor, wear safety gloves, safety
shoes, ear plugs, safety goggles, safety helmet, work-
ing clothes, etc. appropriate for your working environ-
ment.
Never wear loose fitting clothing or a tie which can be
caught by rotating parts. According to the statistics,
most accidents occurring with rotating parts are due to
inappropriate or loose fitting clothing.

2.2.2 SAFE WORKPLACE
All work should be performed in a wide, level and safe
place to prevent slips and fall accidents.
2.2.3 Illumination
The work place should be well illuminated. If working
in a dark place or under the tractor, use an approved
work lamp. The work lamp should be covered with a
safety hot cover. Bulbs can catch on fire if they come in
contact with fuel.
2.2.4 Safety equipment
Be sure to keep a first aid kit and fire extinguisher han-
dy at all times.
2.2.5 KEEPING YOUR WORK AREA CLEAN
Keep the working area clean before and during work. If
any oil or fuel is spilled, it should be cleaned up imme-
diately to prevent falls.

2.5 Cautions when handling the
battery
Always disconnect the negative battery cable first
and reconnect it last to avoid sparks from an acci-
dental short circuit. Otherwise, it could result in fire
or injury.
•
2.6 Cautions for high pressure hoses
S76W015A
A battery can be very hazardous because it con-
tains sulfuric acid. It can damage your clothes, and
even burn your skin when directly contacted. If it
contacts with your eyes, you could lose your sight.
•
S76W018A
Hydraulic fluid leaking from high pressure hoses
or pipes can penetrate your skin.
•
S76W019A
Before connecting a high pressure hose or pipe,
stop the engine and depressurize it by. Check bolts
for proper torque before starting the engine after
hydraulic system service.
Use a cardboard or plank when checking for leaks.
Never use your hands !
•
•
•
S76W020A
Never weld a high pressure pipe or the surrounding
area. The pipe or hose can be heated and explode
which can lead to fire or severe burns.
•
S76W021A
Do not charge a frozen battery. Charging a frozen
battery can cause explosion. Let the battery warm
up to ambient temperature (16°C, 60°F) before
charging.
Keep sparks and flames (match, lighter) away from
the battery to prevent an explosion. Never connect
the battery's negative and positive cables together
to test. Use only an approved tester when checking
removed the battery voltage.

2.8 Handling of hazardous materials
All genuine KIOTI parts are asbestos free.
Remark
When lifting the tractor with a hydraulic jack or a
hoist, connect the tool securely to the tractor before
lifting, use auxiliary supports to suspend equipment
in place and install the auxiliary support. Never work
under the tractor if the support and the hydraulic
jack (hoist) are not installed.
When using a hydraulic jack or a hoist, do not at-
tempt to exceed the safe lifting capacity of the de-
vice.
Make sure that the hydraulic lock operates properly
before used. Improper use of lock can cause a seri-
ous accident.
Check the buttons and operating direction of the
hoist before using it. Improper operation can cause
a serious accident.
Do not use wooden blocks or bricks as support un-
der the tractor. As the tractor's weight is continuous-
ly applied to them, they can be broken or collapse.
Failure to follow these warnings could cause seri-
ous damage to equipment and lead to serious injury
or death to the operator/technician.
•
•
•
•
•
•
S76W022A
Do not use compressed air to remove hazardous
materials, such as clutch dust. Inhaling such haz-
ardous materials can damage your health.
•
These materials should be rinsed or wiped away
after sprayed with oil.
•
2.7 Use of appropriate tools and
equipment
Use the correct tools in proper size. If an inappropri-
ate tool is used, it can slip which can damage parts
or injure you.
Do not confuse units (mm, inch, etc.). Use air driven
impact wrench only when loosening bolts or nuts.
Impact wrenches should not be used when assem-
bling precisely machined parts requiring specific
tightening torques. Failure to follow these sugges-
tions could result in premature failure or improper
operation of a specific part.
Make sure impact tools are securely fastened to
hard ware. Impact tools can easily dislodge of injure
the operator.

S76W024A
Do not open the radiator cap when the radiator is
hot. Hot coolant or fumes can escape leading to a
serious burn.
•
Check the surface temperature of the engine before
draining the engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant,
etc. If it is hot, let it cool down before draining it.
Only perform service on the engine or parts (muffler,
exhaust manifold, turbocharger, etc.) when they are
cool.
Hot fluids or engine parts can seriously injury or
burn you.

environment seriously and you could be charged in
violation of regulations.
•
S76W030A
S76W031A
Do not weld or apply heat to the tire rim or disc. The
tire can explode due to the rapidly increased pres-
sure in the tire.
Check tires for proper inflation pressure, damage,
deformation, extended wear on lug and damage of
rim and disc. Also check for proper torque wheel
bolts, rim bolts and nuts are loose.
•
•
The tire rims can fall out of the tires. Therefore,
stay out of its way when checking or inflating tires.
Improper tire inflation can cause tires to slide off of
rims. When checking tire pressure or inflating tires,
do not stand directly in front of the rim/tire. Posi-
tion yourself adjacent to the rim/tire, out of the way
should a failure occur.

The rear tire specifications and tire circumference
are specified by the tire manufacturer based on
the inflation pressure of the standard tire and the
standard load application. Therefore, the actual cir-
cumference may be different depending on condi-
tions. As a result, it is recommended that the actual
circumference value be used.

7. RELATIVE SPEED RATIO OF FRONT WHEELS
It is ideal to set the speed of the front wheels to 1 ~ 5%
faster than the rear wheels when the front wheel drive
is in operation. However, some agricultural or industrial
tires may not fulfill this function. Therefore, DAEDONG
allows 0 ~ 7% of the relative speed ratio for front
wheels.
If this relative speed ratio is not proper during driving
with front wheel drive engaged, the tractor may be dif-
ficult to drive straight forward and the mechanical shift
system may be difficult to disengage. Also, the durable
life of front tires, the gears for the front axle or the drive
connecting system for the front axle may be affected.
7.1 CALCULATION FOR RELATIVE SPEED
RATIO OF FRONT WHEELS
The relative speed ratio for front wheel is calculated as
follows:
The speed ratio between the front axle and the rear
axle is calculated with the gear arrangement of the
transmission and the front axle. (Refer to the figure in
the section 6.1 GEAR ARRANGEMENT)
Arrangement of main shift gear and front axle gears
First, calculate the GEAR revolution ratio of the front axle referring
to the arrangement table of the main gear shift and front axle gear.
(Refer to the section 6.1 GEAR ARRANGEMENT.)

Calculate the gear revolution ratio of the rear axle referring to the
arrangement table of the main gear shift and rear axle gears (6.1.1).
Example)
The speed ratio of the rear axle for high speed and 1st gear is 0.01358 based calculation in page 1-9.
Since
▶
Therefore, the relative
speed ratio for front wheel
=
(speed of front wheels
÷ speed of rear wheels)
Example)
The relative speed ratio of the front wheels for DS4110(HS) / 4510(HS) based on the above formula is
as follows
Answer) Rotating ratio between the front and rear wheels for DS4110(HS) / 4510(HS) = 1.5832
Circumference of front wheel = 92.7 in.
Circumference of rear wheel = 141.8 in.
=
Rolling circumference of front wheels x rotating ratio
Rolling circumference of rear wheels
92.7 x 1.5832
141.8
= 1.035 → The front wheels rotate 3.5% faster than the rear wheels.
7.2 How to measure the actual rolling circumference
The tire rolling circumference in the tire catalog supplied by the manufacturer may differ from the actual rolling cir-
cumference. Therefore, follow the procedures below to measure the actual rolling circumference.
Adjust the inflation pressure of the front and rear tires to the specified pressure.
Park the tractor on firm level ground.
Disengage the front wheel drive.
Mark on the rear tire and the ground where they meet.
Move the tractor slowly until the marks on the tire meet the ground again. Be sure to move the tractor straight.
Make a second mark on the ground where the mark of the tire contacts.
Measure the distance between the two marks on the ground.
The rolling circumference for the front tires can be measured with the same method. However, the front wheel
drive function should be disengaged.
Calculate the relative speed ratio of the front wheels based on the measured rolling circumference value as follows:
10. If necessary, install the most frequently used implement or a weight and repeat the same test.
11. If the relative speed ratio of the front wheels is over the specified value, check the tires for inflation pressure,
deformation and specifications.
• Specified relative speed ratio for front wheels: 1 ~ 5 %
• Allowable relative speed ratio for front wheels: 0 ~ 7 %

  • 8. 1- SAFETY FIRST GENERAL ENGINE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION REAR AXLE BRAKE FRONT AXLE STEERING HYDRAULIC ELECTRIC 2.5 Cautions when handling the battery Always disconnect the negative battery cable first and reconnect it last to avoid sparks from an acci- dental short circuit. Otherwise, it could result in fire or injury. • 2.6 Cautions for high pressure hoses S76W015A A battery can be very hazardous because it con- tains sulfuric acid. It can damage your clothes, and even burn your skin when directly contacted. If it contacts with your eyes, you could lose your sight. • S76W018A Hydraulic fluid leaking from high pressure hoses or pipes can penetrate your skin. • S76W019A Before connecting a high pressure hose or pipe, stop the engine and depressurize it by. Check bolts for proper torque before starting the engine after hydraulic system service. Use a cardboard or plank when checking for leaks. Never use your hands ! • • • S76W020A Never weld a high pressure pipe or the surrounding area. The pipe or hose can be heated and explode which can lead to fire or severe burns. • S76W021A Do not charge a frozen battery. Charging a frozen battery can cause explosion. Let the battery warm up to ambient temperature (16°C, 60°F) before charging. Keep sparks and flames (match, lighter) away from the battery to prevent an explosion. Never connect the battery's negative and positive cables together to test. Use only an approved tester when checking removed the battery voltage. • • S76W017A S76W016A DH64-W00 May. 2010 DS4110(HS)/4510(HS) SAFETY FIRST - Safety tips 영M50HS_01장_안전.indd 5 2010-06-28 오후 5:56:41
  • 9. 1- SAFETY FIRST GENERAL ENGINE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION REAR AXLE BRAKE FRONT AXLE STEERING HYDRAULIC ELECTRIC 2.8 Handling of hazardous materials All genuine KIOTI parts are asbestos free. Remark When lifting the tractor with a hydraulic jack or a hoist, connect the tool securely to the tractor before lifting, use auxiliary supports to suspend equipment in place and install the auxiliary support. Never work under the tractor if the support and the hydraulic jack (hoist) are not installed. When using a hydraulic jack or a hoist, do not at- tempt to exceed the safe lifting capacity of the de- vice. Make sure that the hydraulic lock operates properly before used. Improper use of lock can cause a seri- ous accident. Check the buttons and operating direction of the hoist before using it. Improper operation can cause a serious accident. Do not use wooden blocks or bricks as support un- der the tractor. As the tractor's weight is continuous- ly applied to them, they can be broken or collapse. Failure to follow these warnings could cause seri- ous damage to equipment and lead to serious injury or death to the operator/technician. • • • • • • S76W022A Do not use compressed air to remove hazardous materials, such as clutch dust. Inhaling such haz- ardous materials can damage your health. • These materials should be rinsed or wiped away after sprayed with oil. • 2.7 Use of appropriate tools and equipment Use the correct tools in proper size. If an inappropri- ate tool is used, it can slip which can damage parts or injure you. Do not confuse units (mm, inch, etc.). Use air driven impact wrench only when loosening bolts or nuts. Impact wrenches should not be used when assem- bling precisely machined parts requiring specific tightening torques. Failure to follow these sugges- tions could result in premature failure or improper operation of a specific part. Make sure impact tools are securely fastened to hard ware. Impact tools can easily dislodge of injure the operator. • • • DH64-W00 May. 2010 DS4110(HS)/4510(HS) SAFETY FIRST - Safety tips 영M50HS_01장_안전.indd 6 2010-06-28 오후 5:56:42
  • 10. 1- SAFETY FIRST GENERAL ENGINE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION REAR AXLE BRAKE FRONT AXLE STEERING HYDRAULIC ELECTRIC 2.9 Handling of rotating blade, shaft and driving belt Do not place hands or feet near the tractor's PTO shaft or rotating blades. Be extra careful when you are in loose clothes. Loose clothing could create an entanglement hazard. • • 2.10 SCALD PREVENTION You can be seriously injured if your hand or clothes is caught by a rotating fan belt or A/C belt. • Do not place hands near the engine cooling fan or drive belts when the engine is running. • S76W027A S76W025A S76W026A S76W023A S76W024A Do not open the radiator cap when the radiator is hot. Hot coolant or fumes can escape leading to a serious burn. • Check the surface temperature of the engine before draining the engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, etc. If it is hot, let it cool down before draining it. Only perform service on the engine or parts (muffler, exhaust manifold, turbocharger, etc.) when they are cool. Hot fluids or engine parts can seriously injury or burn you. • • • S76W028A DH64-W00 May. 2010 DS4110(HS)/4510(HS) SAFETY FIRST - Safety tips 영M50HS_01장_안전.indd 7 2010-07-08 오후 2:03:53

The tire can explode due to the rapidly increased pres- sure in the tire. Check tires for proper inflation pressure, damage, deformation, extended wear on lug and damage of rim and disc. Also check for proper torque wheel bolts, rim bolts and nuts are loose. • • The tire rims can fall out of the tires. Therefore, stay out of its way when checking or inflating tires. Improper tire inflation can cause tires to slide off of rims. When checking tire pressure or inflating tires, do not stand directly in front of the rim/tire. Posi- tion yourself adjacent to the rim/tire, out of the way should a failure occur. • 2.11 Disposal of environmental waste 2.12 Cautions when handling tires DH64-W00 May. 2010 DS4110(HS)/4510(HS) SAFETY FIRST - Safety tips 영M50HS_01장_안전.indd 8 2010-06-28 오후 5:56:43

RELATIVE SPEED RATIO OF FRONT WHEELS It is ideal to set the speed of the front wheels to 1 ~ 5% faster than the rear wheels when the front wheel drive is in operation. However, some agricultural or industrial tires may not fulfill this function. Therefore, DAEDONG allows 0 ~ 7% of the relative speed ratio for front wheels. If this relative speed ratio is not proper during driving with front wheel drive engaged, the tractor may be dif- ficult to drive straight forward and the mechanical shift system may be difficult to disengage. Also, the durable life of front tires, the gears for the front axle or the drive connecting system for the front axle may be affected. 7.1 CALCULATION FOR RELATIVE SPEED RATIO OF FRONT WHEELS The relative speed ratio for front wheel is calculated as follows: The speed ratio between the front axle and the rear axle is calculated with the gear arrangement of the transmission and the front axle. (Refer to the figure in the section 6.1 GEAR ARRANGEMENT) Arrangement of main shift gear and front axle gears First, calculate the GEAR revolution ratio of the front axle referring to the arrangement table of the main gear shift and front axle gear. (Refer to the section 6.1 GEAR ARRANGEMENT.) ▶ GENERAL - RELATIVE SPEED RATIO OF FRONT WHEELS 영M50HS_02장_일반.indd 13 2010-06-28 오후 6:01:52
  • 29. 2-14 SAFETY FIRST GENERAL ENGINE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION REAR AXLE BRAKE FRONT AXLE STEERING HYDRAULIC ELECTRIC DH64-W00 May. 2010 DS4110(HS)/4510(HS) Calculate the gear revolution ratio of the rear axle referring to the arrangement table of the main gear shift and rear axle gears (6.1.1). Example) The speed ratio of the rear axle for high speed and 1st gear is 0.01358 based calculation in page 1-9. Since ▶ Therefore, the relative speed ratio for front wheel = (speed of front wheels ÷ speed of rear wheels) Example) The relative speed ratio of the front wheels for DS4110(HS) / 4510(HS) based on the above formula is as follows Answer) Rotating ratio between the front and rear wheels for DS4110(HS) / 4510(HS) = 1.5832 Circumference of front wheel = 92.7 in. Circumference of rear wheel = 141.8 in. = Rolling circumference of front wheels x rotating ratio Rolling circumference of rear wheels 92.7 x 1.5832 141.8 = 1.035 → The front wheels rotate 3.5% faster than the rear wheels. 7.2 How to measure the actual rolling circumference The tire rolling circumference in the tire catalog supplied by the manufacturer may differ from the actual rolling cir- cumference. However, the front wheel drive function should be disengaged. Calculate the relative speed ratio of the front wheels based on the measured rolling circumference value as follows: 10. If necessary, install the most frequently used implement or a weight and repeat the same test. 11. If the relative speed ratio of the front wheels is over the specified value, check the tires for inflation pressure, deformation and specifications. • Specified relative speed ratio for front wheels: 1 ~ 5 % • Allowable relative speed ratio for front wheels: 0 ~ 7 % 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.
