Lana Del Ray; Born To DieThis magazine advert is for Lana Del Rays album “BornTo die”.The artist name across the top of the page and
the largest piece of text on the page which is conventional for a magazine advert as it needs to attract the
audience and promote the artist and there album.The title is in white to contrast the blue background. Most
of the advert is taken up by a mid shot image of the artist which is in the middle of the page which is also
conventional as it promotes the artist by creating a visual style that the reader can recognise.The size of the
image on the page who's the artist importance.The artist is looking straight into the camera, the eye contract
between the artist and audience makes it seem more personal and engages the reader.The colour palette of
the advert is basic with natural colours such as white and blue being the main focus, this could infer it is more
about the music than bright colours. However the bright blue compared to the simple whites stands out and
grabs the readers eye.This colour also allows the image of the artist to stand out.The album title “BornTo
Die” is near the middle of the page in the second biggest font on the page, this is because the information is
important.The title is blue which is a similar colour to the sky in the image to have continuity across the
advert, the blue stands out against the white shirt Lana is wearing.The white shirt Lana is wearing can also
connote innocence and peace which gives the advert a calm feel. Both the font for the album title and artist
name is capitalised to suggest importance.The album release date is at the bottom of the page which is also
conventional, it is in a different font to the other text on the advert to contrast the other text.The release date
build excitement for the audience and gives them a date for look forward toThis text is smaller than the other
text as it is not as important as the album title and artist name. In addition, specific songs (usually the most
popular songs) are listed under the release date to further promote the album to the audience.There is a
reference to amazon at the bottom left corner of the advert which gives the reader information on where they
could buy the product.The advert also includes a web address which allows the reader to find out more
information on the artist and album and encourages them to buy the album.
