Short description
1. The pupils read the legend.
2. Using the questions prepared by the teacher the pupils
discuss the legend.
3. The pupils design the illustration for the legend.

4. Saulė ir Mėnulis The Sun and the Moon
- Galim skirtis, - ėmė pykti Mėnulis, - bet
duktė liks pas mane.
- Ne, dukters aš tau nepaliksiu. Ji negalės
gyventi su tokiu šaltuoliu.
Ilgai juodu ginčijosi ir nesimatė ginčo
galo. Pagaliau nutarė prašyti Perkūną,
kad surastų teisingą sprendimą.
Long ago before the first man was born,
the Moon and the Sun lived together in
the bright castle in the Sky. They loved
each other very much. One day a
beautiful daugther was born. The happy
parents gave her the name “the Earth”.

5. Saulė ir Mėnulis The Sun and the Moon
Daug metų Mėnulis su Saule gražiai
gyveno, bet vieną dieną ėmė ir susipyko.
- Tu tokia karštuolė, kad aš negaliu su
tavim gyventi, - sako Mėnulis. - Jeigu
nekeisi savo būdo, aš tave pamesiu.
- O tu šaltas kaip ledas. Jei toliau toks
būsi - mudu negalėsime gyventi.
They spent time shining in the sky and felt
happy untill one day got angry without any
reason:
- You are so hot – said the Moon – I can’t
live with you. You have to change your
temper otherwise I will leave you.
- You are like the ice. I get frozen next to
you. If you stay so icy we can’t be together.

6. Saulė ir Mėnulis The Sun and the Moon
Daug metų Mėnulis su Saule gražiai
gyveno, bet vieną dieną ėmė ir susipyko.
- Tu tokia karštuolė, kad aš negaliu su
tavim gyventi, - sako Mėnulis. - Jeigu
nekeisi savo būdo, aš tave pamesiu.
- O tu šaltas kaip ledas. Jei toliau toks
būsi - mudu negalėsime gyventi.
- We can get a divorce – said the Moon
angrily – but our daugther will stay with
me.
- No, she will not – replied the Sun. She
can’t live with such an icy father.
They argued for a long time not finding any
solution. Than they decided to ask the
Thunder to resolve their quarrel.

7. Saulė ir Mėnulis The Sun and the Moon
Šis išklausęs Saulę ir Mėnulį sugriaudėjo:
- Abudu kalbat niekus. Bet jeigu taip
norit skirtis - skirkitės. Tik jūsų duktė
Žemė negali priklausyti nei vienam,
todėl bus taip: Saulė saugos judviejų
dukterį dieną, Mėnulis - naktį.
The Thunder listened to the Sun and the
Moon and thundered:
- You talk to nothing. If you want you get a
divorce but your daugther can belong no
one of you. The Sun will take care of your
daugther for days and the Moon will take
care of the Earth for the nights.

8. Saulė ir Mėnulis The Sun and the Moon
Suprato abu, kad Perkūno sprendimas
teisingas, ir šventai jį vykdo: nuo ryto iki
vakaro Saulė žiūri dukterį Žemę, o nuo
vakaro iki ryto - Mėnulis ją globoja. Kai
Mėnulis kur nors išvyksta, tada Žemę
prižiūri jo seserys žvaigždės.
The Sun and the Moon agreed with the
Thunder’s judgement and kept on it all the
time. The Sun look after the Earth from
morning to evening and the Moon watch
over the Earth from evening to morning. His
sisters - the stars – help him to take care of
his daugther.
