2. Event description
● This exhibit was a free event, it is going on from April 17th to may 28th!
● The jung center is hosting the art work created by artist sandi seltzer Bryant
● Artist sandy creates mostly mixed media canvas art, she depicts her life’s journey,
many of the pieces are depicting landmarks and landscapes from all over the
world.
3. Square states series #8
● This piece was created with the use of oil pastels,
There is a ton of layering which when looking in person
It almost gives the clouds a 3D or textured appearance
● The dark hues amongst the whit clouds gives great
Contrast to the piece and almost gives off a sad vibe.
● When I look at this work it makes me think of rainy
Days sitting on my front porch listening to the wind blow!
4. Square state #15
● The artwork your seeing here was created with the use of
The collage technique, the artist uses several different
Textured material to put together what I see as maybe a city
● There is quite a bit of gold shimmer to this work which makes
Me thing this city depiction might be one of the artists favorite
Visits.
● This seems to be a very original piece but there are many other collage
Pieces to view in the world. This one just tells a different story.
5. Square state #10
● This might be my favorite piece from the whole exhibit,
It makes me think of Hawaii with the blue seas and sandy
Cliff sides.
● The artists uses textured shapes and layering of paint to
To create a flowing movement of the sky and the and a rough
Pattern for the sand which makes me see footprints.
● When I look at this image I feel peace and serenity
And can almost hear the waves in the background
● I would say the only thing that really makes this original is the way she
Layers her paints to create movement.
6. Collage of many textured materials
● Looking at this I see a quilt, it is quite similar to #15, once
Again we’re seeing the use of collage, there could be many
Meanings behind this piece, I pick up on clutter and chaos and
Stress cause there’s so many individual parts that don’t
Necessarily clash.
● This piece gives us a good look into the repetition our artist
Uses cause she has many others displayed that are similar.
7. Square state series #13
● I believe what we are looking at here in a portion of the
Grand Canyon, the artist clearly depicts the solid oranges
And browns associated with the canyons, the artist uses the
Oils to her advantage to create ridges along the cliff side
Which give this piece realism.
● As I’ve viewed majority of her work I feel that this one
Represents a certain bravery or drive, cause the grand canyons
Are a major accomplishment to hike.
8. Houston 2010
● I immediately thing of “BE SOMEONE”
When I look at this photograph, this was taken in 2015
● The artist edited this photo by making the city its
Self more dull then how we see it in the light to give an
Extra pop of color to the gorgeous sunset from that
Night.
● I can say honestly though this isn’t an original
Piece, you can look all over social media for the same pic
And find it almost every time.
9. Soul searching
● The artist of this piece is Karen Kirby, she is depicting
An image I perceive as someone trying to find them selves
Through the years
● The hourglass represents their time here on earth and
The rose might be symbolizing either a death, the book that’s
Incorporated in leads me to believe this person found
Themselves finally and this was at the time of death.
● I believe the medium in this painting is acrylic paints, very
Hard to tell, as this painting is framed and under glass.
10. Spiritus animalis I
● First and foremost the second I viewed this image I
Felt like I was doing an ink blot test, it makes me feel worried
And stressed out.
● The artist used a ink pen and dotting to create this
Monster like image, this drawing was made in 1972 which was
An era of drugs and psychedelics which leads me to believe
This may have been someone’s hallucination brought to life.
11. The observer
● I look at this and immediately think of the dragon
Named toothless from this children’s movie.
● This drawing was made in 1966, artist unknown, they
Use a tone of contrast and dark hues, my guess would be that
This was made via chalk and pastels but you can’t tell from
Behind glass
● This seems to be one of a kind piece and really grabbed
My attention with those bright eyes looking into yours.
12. Event evaluation
● I would recommend this exhibit to someone who has a large imagination and an
open mind cause some of these pieces were really hard to get a read on but it was
almost fun trying to make up a story in my head, over all I do see this show as a
success, 80% of this work was original but I would have liked to read more of a
description placed to each scene, especially the collages.
